I used Dr. Gorospe. Not sure how long the wait is right now, but it was worth it to me to have his level of experience and to be part of his aftercare support group. Other Tulsa doctors doing the procedure are at St. Francis. I think Dr. Pearce is now doing surgery at a hospital on southside OKC; someone else is doing them in Edmond. Mary Ann

Hi Mary Ann, Did Pearce and Gorospe practice together at some point? From talking to Pearce's office, I think Dr. Floyd trained Pearce. Does that sound right? Thanks, Teresa

As far as I know, Dr. G has never practiced with Dr. Pearce. I don't know anything about Floyd; I know Dr. Pearce has been doing it for a while. I believe Dr. G has done more than any surgeon in Oklahoma. He uses the Fobi approach, whi*****ludes putting a ring where the pouch empties into the intestine. This prevents that opening from stretching out, which prevents the stomach from emptying too fast, which means you feel full longer. Dr. Walton has started doing them in Enid since I had mine; I hear from people that he is good. My cousin is the head of nursing at St. Mary's where Dr. Walton does his surgeries. She thinks he is good. To me, Dr. G had three advantages: ****xperience; (2) the ring; (3) the support group. He personally attends ALL support group meetings. I don't know if the others do that or not. Good luck. Mary Ann

No, Im quite certain that Floyd didnt train Pearce...Pearce is QUITE a bit older than Floyd and from my understanding Pearce has done surgeries for over 20 plus years.....I THINK that Floyd just went into partnership with Pearce. *ramblings of a brain dead mom*

Sorry--Pearce trained Floyd. I think I put the cart before the horse. Whooaaaa!!!! Right now I am planning on Dr. Floyd. I would use Pearce, but he is not on my insurance. They both have good numbers and a great deal of experience. Looking at what info is available online, it seems like very few complaints. Wish me luck. Teresa

There are two practices in Tulsa, OK. Dr. Gorospe who has done thousands and all I've researched says he's great. He does not accept Medicare. Dr. Katsis and Dr. Fisher of Surgical Associates also do the surgery. Dr. Mitchell was with the same practice but has relocated out of the area. They have educational meetings the first and third Monday of the month. I will be going with Dr. Fisher. Hope this helps.

I used Dr. Dirk Rodriguez in Dallas. He does hand assisted lap RNY so he can do lap on much heavier people. He has done over 400 lap procedures. His office staff has been great and the hospital stay was wonderful. I got great care. Sandy Gose

I used Dr. Floyd in Edmond. I really liked him, he has a cute personality, and seems sincerely interested in his patients. I also loved that I had very little tenderness after surgery, no complications, and after talking to lots of bariatric surgery patients, I am so grateful that he did my RNY laproscopically. I am 48 years old, was 330 lbs and after surgery I went back to work in 2 weeks. I had surgery 34 days ago, and I have lost 32 pounds. Good luck to you! ~A
