Surgeons in OK
Found out Dr. Bosquez is not doing GBs anymore. Who has used Dr. Gorospe? Like him and his staff? Long waits (sounded like it to me on the phone)? Any other doctors? With my insurance, can go most anywhere, but am hesitating to go several hours away--although I could probably get in quicker. Would prefer to have an experienced surgeon than the short waiting time.
I've heard of Dr. Fisher and Pearce in Edmond, and from a surgical center in Denton TX.
Help!!!!! I would like to know how any of you who used a surgeon in the Okla City OR Edmond and how you liked them.
Have many of you traveled a long way and was it worth the drive?
Thanks to all of you that have time to answer this. I'm going now because my stupid space bar won't work right and it is taking me forever to type this little note.

RE: Surgeons in Tulsa and/or Oklahoma or surrounding area
Thanks---Can you believe I have been researching the Dallas area and Tulsa and OKC but didn't even think about Arkansas.
How many times did you have to go pre-op? What kind of meetings were required? Which hospital?
Thanks for responding. I am starting my "diet history" report now. I hope United Healthcare PPO doesn't require medically supervised diets. I've always avoided doctors like the plague because I had failed so many times and after all---all I need to do is stay on the diet and exercise faithfully----how hard can that be?!?!?

Hi teresa!! I havent had my surgery yet (was just approved! woo hoo!) but have been to Dr. Pearces seminars and worked with his office staff and they have been FABULOUS!! they have been there for me during most of my fight with my insurance and they are just GREAT people there. In fact, he even offered to help me when my own PCP wouldnt do a phone conference with my Insurance!! Dr. Pearce has an extremely good reputation in this area; I only met him briefly after one seminar but he seems to truly CARE about HELPING overweight people. Good Luck!!!!!
Thanks so much for the info. I'm curious about the time length. With my insurance (United Healthcare) I've heard they will approve quickly----is there still a long line. I heard someone say they couldn't be put ahead of others that had applied before them. I'm asking if my paperwork's done and approved---do they go ahead and get you right on in?
Hi Teresa,
I used Dr. Ronnie Keith, my surgery was last Monday, July 12. I had a laparoscopic RNY and am feeling geat! A little sore around the abdomen but other than that I feel fine. His office is in OKC and he does his surgeries at Norman Regional. My hubby had the same surgery with him last October. We loved him and all his staff so much I had mine with him too. When hubby had his surgery we lived in Lawton and so it was about an hour and half drive, but last spring we moved to Springfield, Missouri, so it was now a 5 hour drive. Norman Regional has a hospitality house that you and family can stay in for about $35 a night for preop appointments or your surgery. Also I went to his information seminar a year ago in July with hubby so I set up my preop consult with him in June and had my surgery less than a month later. For hubby, after attending the seminar last July his surgery was in October. Good luck with finding a surgeon and please keep me posted!

hi Teresa,
I had my surgery in Edmond with Dr.Floyd on June 9th. He is wonderful and the staff at Edmond Medical Center were excellent...I couldn't have asked for better care. Dr. Floyd is listed on this site if you want to browse his page...and if you have any questions for me just ask.

I've heard of him. I'm going to the seminar w/Dr.Pearce and then I'm going to see Dr. G (Aug 6) in Tulsa if I have any doubts after going to Dr. Pearce. I'll be at the meeting 27th in Edmond. If anybody is going---let me know.
I'm going to probably use somebody in either the Dallas area, the Edmond area or the OKC area----Does that narrow it down enough?
I'd love to have somebody to look for at the seminar.
