Has anyone used Dr. Kevin Fisher? Please tell me good or bad. I am growing frustrated by his office staff! I am seriously considering changing Dr's. I have finished all my pre-op testing and I am JUST waiting for a surgery date. I feel like It has been a struggle from day one! I am getting uneasy about how difficult it is to reach anyone in his office. What will it be like AFTER surgery? Help...What should I do?

Hi Tracie, I am using Dr Katsis, in the same office. My insurance is Community Care HMO. I started back in May, had consult the first of June, all pre op appts done by the end of June and am now also waiting on a date. My nurse is Shari, and she is GREAT about returning calls. (believe me, I have called a lot. I am a teacher on summer break with alot of time on my hands!) Shari said that the schedule is crazy and Katsis is going to be off the last two weeks in Aug. I have my fingers crossed that I can get in for surgery the first two weeks of Aug. When did you start this process?

Tracie, I had a Lap RNY w/ Dr. Fisher on 5-17-04. I know how frustrating it is waiting for a date. It seemed like I waited forever, then when Tracy G. finally called me with a date, I only had to wait 11 days til surgery. I think Dr. Fisher is very good, and you want the best , right! Just grit your teeth and bear it, it will be worth it in the long run. If I had a question, I would call ANita, his nurse, and she usually called me back within 24-48 hours. After surgery, if I call with a concern, she calls me right back. It's been almost 7 weeks and I have lost 50 pds. Stay with Fisher! Tammy

Congratulations Tammy on your weight loss! I have a question.... what have you been drinking/eating since surgery? Have you been using the "bible" that surgical associates gives to follow? Also, how have you been feeling? Are you unusually tired in the afternoons? I am soooo glad to hear that you did not have alot of pain after the surgery. Did you use anything the day you got out of surgery for pain? Can't wait to hear from you! Janey

Tracie - I have also (at times) been very frustrated with Surgical Associates' process. I went to the May 17 info meeting with all medical records and my approval letter in hand, and still had to wait until June 24 for an appointment. I did have to have some records resent and another letter from my PCP, but all of that was done within 7 to 10 days from the meeting. Before going to the appointment, I had already called the Psychiatrist and Pulmonologist and got appointment dates for July 1. Now all of that is behind me, but now I have to go to 1 support group meeting BEFORE my surgery can be scheduled. I don't mind going, as a matter of fact I think they are very important, however, had I known that, I would have went while waiting for the appointment. Now I have to wait until the 13th because June was a 5 Tuesday month. So, I have been a little impatient, but things happen for a reason . . . . . . I really do like Dr. Fisher. He talks with me, not to me.

Janey, Hi. Sorry it took so long for me to respond. I have been drinking Chrystal ligh****er and mainly Decaf Iced tea, it seems to go down better, so I can drink larger amounts. As far as food goes, I stick mainly to cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese, eggs, tuna w/ crackers. I do try meat, but I'm not a big fish eater. I can eat very moist chicken. I sometimes dip it in ranch dressing. I can eat roast beef from the inside of a Arby's sandwich. YUM. I try to follow the "bible" but, you also go by what's comfortable for you. I do protein supp's, but try to focus on fluid intake because I know that I can't get dehydrated. I feel good now. I was great the first two weeks after surgery, then after that I was really low on energy. Now it's back up, and I'm back to work. When I got out of surgery I told them to stop the morphine, It made me feel wierd! I just took liquid lortab after that. I didn't need the lortab after I got home, but occasionally take it for back pain. My back has hurt since surgery! Tammy

thanks for the info! Will you be going to the meeting on the 13th? Let me know when your surgery date is scheduled. We may pass each other in the hospital walking! Janey [email protected]
