Help Please..Has anyone experienced this.....
I am almost two weeks post-op, I feel wonderful...except I have been having a burning sensation between two of my incisions, it is only if I walk or move the wrong way that I feel it. Sitting or laying I am fine no pain. I went to my Dr. and he said it was from some of the nerves around where they operated are irritated. He put me on a prescription of Neurontin, he said I would have to take it for six weeks. Does this mean I will not feel better for this long? I am so ready to get out and do things but as soon as i get up the pain is excruciating. Anyone else experience this and have any ideas or info?
I'm just a few days post-op, but I have taken Neurontin for another type of nerve pain, and it was INCREDIBLY helpful, but didn't take six weeks to improve my nerve pain.
If he just said you'd have to take it for six weeks, it sounds to me like your nerve pain should be resolved in that time.
Whenever you cut skin, you cut some nerves, since it's really hard to map all those tiny nerve endings it's just likely that they hit a larger one on you, or a more sensitive one.
I hope that whatever the case the neurontin helps you! It certainly helped my nerve pain. Mine was also caused by a surgical procedure, and after taking the neurontin for awhile I was able to stop taking it and my nerve pain in now almost non-existent, my surgical procedure included removing a large section of a large nerve in my lower leg so it will probably never be totally gone, but it sounds like yours is a bit smaller and may disappear completely.
Hope this info helps!

i'm 3mo out and i did have that burning sensation around my incision site. my dr told me it was the muscles and nerves waking up, i only felt it for a fews days (that i really noticed), i had a prescription for lortab (liquid), and that helped with the pain for me. i promise it doesn't last too long. it will go away.
