Ernestine Shire
Hi
I live in Kansas and have found that OK would be a better place for me to come. I have family in Guthrie and Edmond, so I picked Emond Medical Center. I was thinking of seeing Ernestine Shire, but would consider anyone else.
Any suggestions on another doctor or about Dr. Shire? I feel like I am doing this all alone, which I guess I am doing, except that you all are here.
Would it be too rude to ask who Momma Angels doctor was? Does she have a profile I could read and see what her story was about? If that seems insensitive please forgive me, I don't mean to sound bad.

Dr. Henry Pearce did my surgery in October of 2002. I would recommend him to anyone who asks & probably to those who didn't...Edmond Hospital had its "grand opening" of its Bariatric Surgery Center last night. It is a suite of 6 rooms specially designed for the bariatric patient, including specialized nursing care.
Dr. Floyd just joined Dr. Pearces's office as well.
Dr. Pearce's phone number is 405-340-0511. Once you call the office, you will be able to sign up for a seminar. You will learn so much there!!!
Please email me if you have any qustions!!

You might want to consider consulting with the different docs at Edmond, and see who you feel most comfortable with! Dr. Shires was my surgeon, and I certainly haven't been disappointed. I came to her with a list of questions, and she went over everything with me. I would assume any doctor would. I had appointments for other consults when I saw her, but I knew she was the right surgeon for me, and canceled everything else. I would encourage you to consult until you are comfortable and convinced you have made the best choice for you. Good luck!
Dr Floyd was my surgeon, and he is wonderful. I cannot say enough good things about him and his staff. I had my surgery at Edmond Hospital in February of 04, and I am down 96 pounds already. Of course, surgical results will vary with each person, and these are just my results, but I can tell you that it's so worthwhile.
The hospital is great, but if you can have someone with you to help you up, etc, you will be better off. The day staff seemed to be too busy much of the time to respond in a timely manner, while the evening and late night crew were wonderful to me.
First off Momma Angel did not have WLS by choice.
Second I was told in December by Dr Shire herself that she was no longer doing WLS. Things could have changed since then but it's worth checking out.
A friend of mine had her surgery in March with Dr. Pearce and loved him and has been extremely happy with his care.
Hope this helps.
