Insurance HELP
Back in Dec 03 our insurance sent a letter stating that the WLS would now be covered in our bc/bs HMO plan. I was on the bc/bs PPO plan so I switched in open enrollment in Jan. Then went to the Dr and when he sent in the insurance card the insurance people said "They put an exclusion on your policy eff Jan 31. Our plan went into effect on Feb 1.
I actually tried to be up-front with my boss and insurance carrier and told them what I was looking for in my policy. Is this fair or legal or do I have a hope?
Please if anyone of you reads this and knows of places to work where they have insurance coverage let me know. I will change jobs even after 6 years there just to do this. I feel like a balloon in the sky that just hit a tree limb and floating aimlessly(sp?) about. please write if you have anything to offer.
Thank you ,
Robbin

I know someone I work with who had the same thing happen with BC/BS. She already had her consultation when the change to the exclusion happened (BC/BS paid for the consult). I actually have a different insurance than her. It's Community Care, who now covers the surgery. I know the State of OK employee's have Community Care. I work for DVIS, and we have Community Care also. I think Pacificare also covers the surgery. I think I've heard that SBC (Southwestern Bell) has insurance that covers it, and maybe WorldCom or something like that. I think we need a message board of employers in OK and what insurance they offer! Tammy
