Sheila, It was just him basically asking questions about me. My mother said it was a basic evaluation. He did ask me what I knew about the surgery, what kind of diets I had tried, and why did I think this would be different....Then I answered a 500 question thing....I scored 60/40. So I just made it over the half way mark.... Don't worry about it. Just go and answer there questions. Cindy

Sheila, I had to take the MMPI, Minnesota Multi-Phasic Personality Inventory. Long huh? It basically let the psychologist test my level of depression, anxiety and personality issues(feelings or self worth)that I had before surgery. He also asked about my decision (why?) I made this decision. Believe me the test doesnt hurt, but your brain will afterwards. Of course you could have another test given, but remember they are only a "baseline" and are the psychologist's opinion. (dont put too much stock into the results. He also wants to see how well you will handle this "life changing event". Dont worry it will be okay and you will get through it all. It's worth it in the long run. p.s.- I'm a counselor so i understand this testing stuff, it;s all just part of the overall process that insurance requires. Debbie

The psychiatrist I saw asked questions about my life, family, friends, and weight problems. She told me she would approve the surgery but I had issues that needed to be addressed and that I would not be happy with the decision later. She suggested strongly that I take antidepressants and to see her about 6 weeks after surgery. I placated her, scheduled the appointment, and 5 weeks after surgery, cancelled the appointment. I feel great and my mental health is not in question and never was. Cost 195.00 other psychiatrist I was going to see over 800.00 with 2 appointments required. Good luck.
