I would choose the same surgeon again...Dr. Ronald Keith from Norman, OK.  He has done thousands of surgeries and is from a "Center of Excellence" which is the only place medicare will pay for the surgery to be done.  Dr. Keith is meticulous in ensuring his patience get perfect care (with a specially trained staff at the hospital).  I would do it again in a heartbeat.  I had RNY 3 years ago this week and am at goal weight for almost 18 months.

The secret to success is DON'T CHEAT the first year and take all vitamins and supplements.  Most people who gain their weight back are cheating or say they don't have time to eat mostly protein....Follow eggface on here (www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.com) and use some of her recipes...currently, if I crave something, I eat a few bites and give the rest away to neighbors or leave it on my plate...I had to learn that.

Of course it's uncomfortable and hard at first, but well worth it.  I can now cross my legs, chase my grandchildren, and actually take a walk or visit an arts fair!!!

ONLY go to a center of excellence since the beds and chairs are bigger, staff are trained to accommodate bariatric patients and my hospital stay was fantastic!  Of course I began to hate the people who wanted me to get out of bed and walk every day, but who doesn't :)

I've only seen one surgeon and I may be a little prejudiced but Dr. Gornichec did my Roux-en-y and he is awesome. My surgery was done at Deaconess in Oklahoma City and his office is at Integris on NW Expressway.

Dr. Gornichec is an excellent surgeon, honest and compassionate. He's very positive and encouraging and his staff is the same. Whenever I had questions they were prompt and helpful, they've been just wonderful, I can't say enough good things about his staff.

The only less than great experience I had was with the stress test conducted in his office but it was performed by an outside contractor and not by members of Dr. Gornichec's staff. But the problems I had were quickly addressed and taken care of.

I'd wholly recommend Dr. Gornichec to anyone interested in having bariatric surgery. I'd choose the same doctor and the same hospital, the care I received at Deaconess was excellent.

Revision on 12/24/12
I have had the RXN-Y in 2007 and had many many complications. The RXN-Y and all the surgeries from the complication were done by Ronnie Keith. When I had my original surgery, I thought he was the absolute best, but after knowing what I know now, I probably would have done it all differently. His practice isnt all about weight loss. Now it is just a little bit of everything.

I did my revision with Dr. Gregory Walton. He is the absolute greatest and he was able to fix what wasn't done correctly and put things the way they are. He is at Weightwise. Their entire practice is solely bariatrics. He owns part of the hospital where the surgeries are. He and his partner have performed over 2000 weight loss surgeries without a single death. They are not in any of the insurance networks, but they only charge you the in-network charges and writeoff the rest. Check them out, the entire process is amazing and they support you for life.
