I did it...took step one..
Good luck on your journey! I started mine in August of last year when I first started thinking about surgery and began reading everything I could find. It was March of this year before I finally made an appointment at Journey Clinic in Moore. After several nutritionist visits, doctor visits, tests, and support group meetings, I finally completed the insurance requirements and was approved in mid-June.
I am scheduled for surgery next Tuesday and I can't wait!! Anxious and excited!!

Good luck with your surgery! I have also looked at Journey Clinic and watched the videos she has on her website. I liked them too! I wonder how well they work with your insurance? The reason I chose WeightWise is that I know someone who had the lap band done there and told me how they worked around the insurance company so the patient had the least amount out of pocket possible. Which surgery are you having?
I'll look forward to following you on your journey!

I have heard great things about Weightwise also. I chose Journey Clinic because I have had 3 friends that had surgery performed by Dr. Nelson. They all had wonderful things to say about her. Plus since I live in Norman, I really liked the convenience of the location of the office and the surgery being done at Norman Regional. I don't think you could go wrong with either place.
They arranged all of my appointments. I didn't have any problems with my insurance approval and they took care of everything. I am having RNY gastric bypass surgery. I am looking forward to this whole journey and I feel well prepared. Keep us updated on your journey.

I ended up not being able to go. Plus my husband has decided that now he wants to go with me, so he wanted me to wait for him. We are going to sign up again and go, tho, either this coming week or the next. He's really jumped on the bandwagon with me. I would be awesome if we can do it together! Can I ask why you chose the sleeve? He wants the sleeve, and I am still kinda considering RNY, but not fully sure yet. Thanks! Hope you are feeling well!
I chose the sleeve because I had a LapBand placed in 2007 and lost about 84 pounds with that and then couldn't afford the maintenance so I had to stop getting it and gained 40 pounds back. The sleeve was the best option for me because my problem wasn't so much WHAT I was eating but how much I was eating. I had numerous issues with my band that I had to rely on slider foods (ones that will go through easily) because things were constantly getting stuck and I was vomiting almost daily. It was simply the best choice for me and my surgeon was more than supportive on my choice for a revision. The first week-10 days was absolute hell but it's honestly getting better and better and I really am so glad I did it. Good luck and keep in touch so I know how you're doing!
Thanks Brittany! I will keep in touch. The maintenance on the band is one reason I've decided on the sleeve. However, I heard thru a girl at work that our insurance won't pay for the sleeve, but she had her lapband last year, so hopefully that's changed. I plan on calling next week and finding out.
