Sorry it's been so long... but I'm back and I need yall

Okay, yall... I need some support here, my husband and I have decided to start trying to expand our family, I have 5 year old from my previous marriage, and he was born pre-RNY and TT. I had my RNY in March of 09 and my TT last December. I saw my surgeon just last Friday and he said my vitamin levels and protien is all good  so no current consernes there, and he also says that there is no reason I can't have a healthy comfortable pregnancy even after my TT, he said that most of the time there is very little to no reason for a TT revision after pregnancy but that if I want to have it done he will do it. ( he did both my surgeries). My fears come from the fact that my family (my parents and grandparents) are not at all in support of me having another baby. They fear that the baby will be malnourished or that it will be born with problems due to my RNY. They also are constantly telling me how my body will be ruined, the effects of my TT will be wasted and I will be right back where I started before any of my surgeries. We've made up our mind and we know that this is what we want but I wanted to talk to some of you, since I've always found so much support and help here. If anyone has any tips, advice, or insight into this situation please feel free to PM me or respond here...Thanks!

Hey good to see you back.
I say as long as your doc is onboard with it, go for it. Maybe do some research and visit the pregnancy board on here and get some info to pass along to the family. Ultimately it is YOUR decision and no one elses (except hubby). Plenty of women have had babies post op and have done fine and bounced back to their new normal weight. Good Luck!

DeWitney ~

We haven't talked in a long time, I know, but I had Krysten 7 mos post-RNY and I had Tyson post-RNY AND post-TT.  My TT has held up fine AND I was one of his earlier ones, meaning not as good as the ones he has done recently.  If you have any questions, feel free to PM me.  I can give you all the lowdown on it as both kids are smart and healthy and fit as a fiddle.

The data actually show that babies born to mothers after WLS are healthier, have more normal birth weights, and fewer incidences of birth defects.  Pregnancy after WLS is also healthier for the mother, with fewer chances for gestational diabetes, preeclampsia (sp?) and high blood pressure.  You and your doctor know your body best.  If you are both on board, go for it!

And Good Luck!
