I am backkkk again
I have not been on the site in awhile because I had given up on ever getting wls. My depression hit hard and I have been physically ill for quite sometime. After talking to the gal at my dr office I have decided to give it a try again. I am calling monday to reserve a seat for me at an upcoming seminar. I am not getting my hopes up yet.
If anyone has any useful info about getting medicaid to pay for it let me know please.

Thank you for the kind words and welcome backs..
to answer why I did not get the surgery before, I lost my medicaid due to finances... I had completed everything and was waiting on the doctors office to do thier part which they never did do.
Please everyone keep me in your prayers that this time I will be able to have the surgery and that I dont loose my sanity going through all the steps again, also please pray for my health.

Hi Sherri,
like you, I haven't been around in a while. Tried bck in 2007 to get wls and did not qualify due to no comorbidities. I have recently begun my wls journey again. I now have a qualifying comorbidity (sleep apnea). I have just finished my seminar for Dr. Fuller in Little Rock and am now in the process of gathering all the paperwork and records I need. I too am onYour Medicare and Medicaid. From what I am being told, medicaid is the hardest insurance to qualify for wls. They want a bmi of 40 or greater with atleast one comorbidity. You must have completed a 6 month medically supervised diet within the last 18 months. Which it looks like I will have to repeat, since I did mine in 2008. UUggghhh! You have to have certain lab work done. Your family physician has to submit a letter of medical necessity. You have to gather all your records from the last 6 months and proof of weight for the last 3-5 years (vitals from dr. visits). You have to have a psychiatric evaluation and an appt. with a nutritionist. i think that is it. But, your wls surgeons office should have all the medicaid requirements that they can print out for you. Mine gave them to me in a check off list, so that I could check everything off as I got it. Looks like we are about in the same boat. Keep in touch and let me know how things are going. Maybe we can help each other along. God Bless &Good Luck!
