SCARED TO EAT?!?!

I am 4weeks post op and having some issues.  I have been vomiting alot lately...the other day, I had a hard boiled egg, lost that.  Had a few bites of shrimp, lost that.  The taste of it has definately turned me off - the eggy and fishy taste of these two items made my gag reflex go crazy.  I'm honestly scared to eat.  I also made some chicken salad, smelt it, gagged, and didn't want to eat it even after I fixed it.  What is wrong with me?!?!  I am sick of eating CHEESE.....if I can't eat the things I'm supposed to then what do I do?  UGH FRUSTRATED!!!!!

When I vomited my stomach would be very tender for several days & I would treat it gently. One thing I did was make beef or chicken soup with some veggies (no potatoes or rice), then eat it with a fork. A woman @ the WW support group said she strained it, drank the broth, then ate the meat & veggies. Anyway, that way the meat is plenty moist and easy to eat. I tended to get in trouble when I ate too fast or took bites that were too large. Once I learned to pace myself, everything was way better.

Congratulations on your surgery and good luck on your journey.

Thanks for posting this.  My hubby is 3 weeks out tomorrow and having a hard time with eating also.  He has had two times now where he either ate too much/too fast and was extremely uncomfortable with the slimies (throwing up water type stuff).  He is struggling over what tastes good also.  I had him read this so he would know he wasn't alone.  Hang in there.  I promise it gets better.

Hijack!

I've been wondering about Randy's progress.  Yes, the slimies are yucky, but tell Randy small bites and slow eating eventually becomes second nature.  At least it did for me.

How much longer before your plastics?  Good luck and keep us updated.

Thanks for your comments.  I'm doing better.  Learning to eat slower.  I had a pity party or buyer's remorse for a few days but pulled myself up by my bootstraps.  50 pounds down now and feeling good.  Amy's plastic surgery is October 28.
