Question for anyone who had to have their silastic ring removed
Hello,
I had lap rny on 12/26/2007. In April 2008, I had to have my silastic ring removed because my body rejected it. As a result I have stretched my pouch to the point I can eat "normally" but I do still get the dumping syndrome if I eat too much sugar/carbohydrates. I weighted around 475 when I had the surgery. I now weight 387 although my lowest weight since the surgery has been 349. I saw my surgeon on Thursday 8/12/10 and as we were talking I reminded him that he had removed my silastic ring. He suggested that I try the South Beach diet.
Has anyone else had this problem? Has anyone used the South Beach diet to lose weight after having any type of bariatric surgery?
Thanks.

I had the RNY surgery. The doctor had to remove the ring because the entrance to my pouch had closed up so I couldn't even drink water.
When I saw my surgeon this month, he offer to do another surgery to put the ring back. I quickly vetoed that idea. It made no sense to me to put something back in my body that had rejected once. I had have too many problems/complications from the surgery to even consider having more surgery done.
So now I'm back to trying to diet to lose weight.
