Hi everyone!  I've been on this website daily for the past couple of months and only today realized there is a special area for us Oklahomans! (Duh)  I've been reading the main forums but it's always nice to know there are some more local people to ask questions of.

My surgery is scheduled on Aug. 9th with Dr. Keith in Norman and I'm very excited/nervous!  Can't wait to take my spot on the loser's bench with the rest of you!

Welcome Pam,

Being nervous is normal...just know that Dr. Keith is excellant and Norman Regional is the BEST.

I'm just over 6 months out...down 76 lbs since my surgery and 87 lbs overall.

Sending you hugs and good wishes...you're gonna do GREAT!!!!

Everything happens for a reason.

It didn't take as long as I thought it would. Originally, my insurance company approved me but with the stipulation that I go on the 6 month diet. But both Dr. Keith and my pcp wrote letters of medical necessity due to my high BMI and the diet requirement was waived.

I went to the seminar in late April, had my initial consult the first part of May, was approved with the diet requirement in June and it was waived a couple of weeks ago. I received my surgery date last week so all together it will be 4 months from beginning to surgery.

But I have to say that, from reading other posts on the forums, it can sometimes take many months or over a year.  I know I have been pretty lucky in getting it done this quickly. I give the credit to Jen and Cheslea in Dr. Keith's office.  They were really great about following up and staying on top of the insurance company.

Best of luck to you, too!

Welcome to you both.  I've been on the board for awhile now researching, reading, watching to learn all that I can - LOL. I am a Pre-op as well w/ my surgery scheduled for August 2 w/ Dr. Keiths office and I have to say mine went fairly smoothly as well.  My 10 Day Diet Class is tomorrow w/ all my final labs for the hospital.  What seemed to be dragging by is now zooming along.

Congrats to you both, they need to make room for all 3 of us on that Losers Bench...

Hi Shay!  Got your friend request - thank you because you are my first one! Good luck on your pre-op diet. I start mine on the 30th.

Your surgery is only a week ahead of mine so, since we have the same surgeon, it will be interesting to compare notes.

Best of luck to you and I'll look forward to your progress!

Hi!  I just had RNY surgery two days ago.  Dr. Walton is my surgeon.  I feel GREAT!  I just got home,  and I'm on my fourth day without any food, and I have NO appetite.  I am finding it a little bit difficult to get my 64 ounces of water in, but I'm doing the best I can.  I can tell you that this is a piece of cake!  Sure, I'm a little sore in my belly and still have some residual gas, but other than that, I'm fine.  I cannot say enough wonderful things about Dr. Walton and the entire staff at Summit Medical Center.  They were absolutely wonderful!

I am so excited to have the surgery done, and now I can start living my new life!
