I was interviewed a couple of weeks ago by a reporter for the Daily Oklahoman regarding my bariatric surgery. The reporter, Ken Raymond, has been doing a blog on weight loss with his picture and weights posted each week.
He was really great to meet and talk with....here are the results of the interview.
Oh, btw, he asked me if I took the "easy way out" with weight loss surgery....Anyway, it was a good article overall I think.
Just thought I would share...

(Of course, there are a few silly comments at the end of the article. Dont think we can ever get away from the ignorant peeps.)

Leah I think you explained it well that this isn't an easy way out.  So many people are not educated on this surgery and just assume.  It takes articles like this getting out to the public for them to learn that this is hard work or in my case going to be hard work that is for life.  Thank you for doing the article.

You did a really good job and the picture was great.  It's not the easy way out but a tool.  Thanks very much.  donna

I get so tired of the ignorance of people!  I am 18 months out and I never hide the fact that I had gastric bypass.  I have friends who won't tell people they had wls, I've never hidden that from anyone.  People used to ask me all the time if it was the easy way out....heck no!  I went through a lot that first six months, five surgeries....I don't think there's anything easy about it.  And now that I'm approaching my goal, I struggle every day.  There is NO easy way to lose weight!

34 lbs. lost before surgery on December 22, 2008.   105 lbs. lost prior to signing up for WLS.

Amen. Preach it sista.
BTW, you look awesome! We are going to have to get together sometime...you know, I remember we had surgery right around the same time and I lived in Southern Ok at the time...
We are having a Saturday support group on July 17th with a plastic surgeon...you should come on up! I would love to meet you!!
