I am in shock

About 6 years ago, my co-worker and I started the paperwork to become RNY patients. Her appointment was one week before me and she was approved and had surgery. The week I had my appt the insurance changed their guidelines and I was not able to have the surgery. For years I have even changed employers just to try and get insurance that would cover WLS. Twice I had insurance that stopped covering WLS just as I was enrolled.  in the mean time, I came hear a lot and read, researched and dreamed.
Finally, 18 months ago, I started a new job with insurance that covered WLS. I jumped through all their hoops including the 6 month diet...and waited for 2 months for an answer. Today, I am in shock as I have been approved.
I am of course a little scared but think I'll be ready when the day comes. Thank you all for sharing your stories and giving me hope.

Congrats! As soon as the shock wears off, the excitement (and fear) begins! Its a whole new phase for you! Youve gone from "I'm hoping to have surgery" to "I'm GOING to have surgery!" It can be very surreal. Youre gonna do great!  Let me know when you have a date! ~~Mary~~

Congrats Molly!!!!

The good thing is that there have been a lot of changes in WLS in those 6 years.
You have a GREAT doctor, and a great hospital (Norman Regional).
It's normal to be a little scared...but you are gonna breeze thru it and do GREAT.
I feel SO much better since I had my surgery 5 months ago...
Hugs
Deb

That's great to hear Deb.  I really do think Dr. Keith is great and the hospital staff seems wonderful too. Congrats on your success.

I know what you mean. I have actually started looking at clothing styles and dreaming that I might look good in them next year. I am also planning on a marathon for my 50th birthday.

Oh Molly congrats to you!
Your one of those stories I love to hear about when it all comes together and works out. I also think it is people like you who will appreciate the opportunity all the more because it took so long to get to this point.

Good Luck to you!
