Can anyone give me some advice on taking my vitamins? I'm 2 weeks out from sleeve surgery and I'm having a hard time taking my vitamins without getting sick. Thanks for the help.

Is it the taste of the vitimine?  Or the size?  I had problems with the size and would have to cut them up into litte pieces in order to take them.  If it's the taste you may have to try out different kinds until you find something that you can tolerate.

I recommend chewable vitamins from www.celebrate.com or if you live in the Tulsa/Broken Arrow area you can get them at Dr. Gorospe's office.

I take it you don't get along with the vitamins sold at Dr. B's office? I like them better than any others I've tried.

Celebrate vitamins made me gag.  I have a ton I can't even take.  Try Bariatric Fusion.  Berry, Strawberry, and Orange that taste a bit like a Sweetart.  They have good protein shakes as well.

Don't buy a whole bunch of any vitamin until you are certain you can tolerate them.  They cost too much to waste.

For calcium, try Bariatric Advantage chews.  Chocolate and raspberry are terrific!

Dr Gorospe is  located at 705 W Queens St in Broken Arrow and we offer samples of all of our vitamins.  My favorite calcium is Lemon Calcet. It taste more like a little treat than a vitamin.  He  also carries chewable Strawberry and Hot Cocoa flavor.

I decided that since I wasn't gonna spend the money I use to on eating out - that I would start up my vitamin regime through Bariatric advt - I get the 90 days supply - they send them to me automatically every 3 months...............something like $38 but I love the berry flavored ones........

Becareful on the calcium...make sure that it is citrate and not CARBONATE !!   The difference -  carbonate will constipate ya..............something like that......

As for any pill - since my WLS   -  I just can't stand the taste of regular water..my taste buds change so drastically after surgery too.................I haven't found a calcium that I like nor can tolerate......NOT GOOD>...but I eat quite a bit of cheese....I love me some milk and I can still tolerate it too..

Thanks everyone for the help on the rasberry calcium - I may try those.............
  • Pease check out Dr. Connie Stapleton's Website. A lot of good information on there for all WLS patients regardless of the surgery you chose.  Good luck to all and I'm here for you if you want to send me an email.  I'll answer it as soon as possible.

Dr. B would not like me saying this but I couldn't take those stupid things either. I took the flinstones gummy vitamins for the first month or so.  I ended up getting permission from Dr. B  to take a small multi vitamin from Walgreens.  I just got a multi vitamin with iron that was small so swallowing wasn't an issue.
