Okay so I had surgery on the 17th of March. I haven't had a PCP since I was too old for my pediatrician when I was 18. I then saw an adolescent doctor until I was 21 and was to old for them. I am wanting a doctor in the Metro area ****norman, moore, Edmond, MWC wherever) who is understanding, supportive, and knowledgable of the surgery I have gone through. I have my surgeon and my support team at Weight Wise in Edmond but I'm obviously going to have sore throats and colds and things that are not their area of medicine. I need a doctor who knows how to work with our new bodies. If any of you have a doctor you'd suggest please let me know!!

If you want to travel to Yukon, Dr Heather Barnes has walked with me through my journey step-by-step.  Her and her staff are always excited to see me since I change so much between visits.  She listens and works hard to help make me a success.

She's at Integris Yukon, I-40 and Garth Brooks.  I can't speak highly enough of her.

She understands.  She will help.

I use Dr. Lacy Anderson. She is in Norman and part of the Integris network. She is so awesome. She helped me do my 6 month diet in order to get my surgery and went the extra mile to make sure everything was done properly so my insurance would approve me with no problems. She has several patients who have had bariatric surgery, both bypass and band, and has family members who have also had the surgery. She is very understanding and knowledgeable. She is a family practice doctor and I use her for just about everything. I have had several doctors growing up and she is by far the best I have ever had. If you want her number and address just send me a message and I'll be more than happy to give them to you.

My current physician is Dr. Rachel Franklin; she's affiliated with the OU Family Medicine clinic.  She's fantastic, and she has a number of patients who have had WLS. . .  I highly recommend her.

I don't know how many docs in their practice have had exposure to WLS, but Westbrook Physicians in Edmond is right by Weight Wise. They are located on Kelly, literally just around the corner from Weight Wise. Several of my family members have gone there for years, and I went there myself for a while. Like I said, you might have to ask and see if they can help with the WLS aspect, but if they can, it's very, very close to where you had your surgery. Good luck!

I use Dr. Paul Preslar in MWC.  He recommended that I have WLS and is extremely knowledgeable and supportive.

Everything happens for a reason.

I see Dr. Koons there at SMCC, and I really like her. But ya know I really did not tell her I was having surgery :),( hmm probably should have done that.) So I am not sure what her take on WLS is. I do know that she will take the time to talk to you and discuss your concerns and answer all your questions, so if you made an appointment I am sure she would be up front and honest about her take on your surgery, and whether or not she would be able to help you.
