WLS Supportive/Friendly Primary Phisician?
Thanks Molly, I already have all of my pre-op requirements met. I am looking for a doctor that can take care of my regular needs and after surgery care. I did not want to go to a doctor who does not like WLS to care for me afterward. I don't think Dr. Kirk works as a primary care physician, or does he?
Dr. Debra Colpitt is a PCP in Owasso (at Bailey) that is supportive. I thought when I brought up the surgery that it would be a fight and I was pleasantly surprised. I was required by my insurance to do a 6 month supervised diet, during my monthly visits with her she would always ask me what I had learned at support group and she also checked a bunch of things that Dr. Gorospe didn't require over that 6 months to make sure there wasn't anything that might pop up and prevent me from having the surgery.
I see Dr. C. Kathuria at Omni @ 81st and Memorial. I was holding my breath when I approached the subject with her, as my two previous physicians had basically poo poo'd the idea. Anyway, when I brought it up, she seemed thrilled about it. She said it would be great for me and that she even had another patient that had RNY and is doing very well. She's a very attentive PCP as well.
