One year later
On March 16th 2009 I had rny gastric bypass surg. I toped the scales at a whopping 365lbs. I had a hard time walking or doing anything. All though I did manage to work 5 12hr shifts as a nurses aide in a hopital. I was not able to wear jeans and I was in the largest scrubs that they made and they where really tight. I was dieing a little each day. i hated myself and took all my of the hatred I had for my self out on my husband and kids daily. I couldn't stand to look at my self in a mirror. I was loseing my husband a little each day because I was so angry at my self for getting so fat.
This past year has been one heck of a rollercoaster ride. 3 days after my wls my husband comes home from work and tells me he hates me and wants a divorce. So I was under all kinds of stress.
My surg was easy for me I had a very easy time with recovery. I was off all pain meds 1 week post op. I did have problems getting my fluids in and keeping my protein down. At my 3mth post op appt Dr pond told me I was the poster child for wls. I had lost 70lbs in just 3 mths. I did have to have a scope done to make the top of my stomach wider because of scare tissue. At 6mths post op I lost a 100lbs.
I am currently experianceing a stall but it will pass. I have 45lbs to go untill I hit my wt loss goal of 170lbs.
People ask me all the time if this was worth it and I say more than you will ever know.
Today I am wearing xlg scrubs top and bottoms. a size 18 jeans and 1x shirts. My biggest moment was when I tried on my wedding dress i wore in 1999 and it was to big. I am currently 17 lbs from the wt I was the day I got preg with my oldest child back in feb of 1997. I feel great my blood pressure befor surg was 200's over 100's and now it runs around 100/59.
Words cant explain how I feel. I have a new nickname at work and it is the diappearing lady. As for getting a divorce I am not My husband and I renewed our wedding vows on feb 12th and I was wearing a size xl dress. I am able to do all the things I had not been able to do in 8 years. I do still fight head hunger but I get threw it.
I bought a wii and got the wii fit and I love the step arobics. In dec of 2005 I had to do 3min of step arobics for my job at the hopital and I was so out of breath at the end of that 3 mins. I can do 30 min now and have no issues being out of breath...
I want to thank all my friends here at o.com u guys where such an insperation and always so helpful. I do feel guilty not posting as much as I did during the first few months of my journy but I have been enjoying my new found life...My hubby and I got a new puppy that we walk 2 miles a day when iit is not raining...I love the new me and I can look in the mirror again and I like what I see.

Congratulations on your success both with your weight loss and your marriage. What an year you have had.
Thanks for posting your story. It is so inspiring to hear all the success stories and the challenges different ones face, after the surgery and the different ways you are affected post WLS. It helps those of us a few steps behind, be better prepared and understand what is happening to both our bodies and our minds.
