Yes-the forum is quiet.  I don't really care for the facebook links and I won't be around much anymore for that reason.

I don't really like the tone that says those of us who are not around have forgotten where we came from, etc.  I know exactly where I came from and I continue to offer support to people I know who need it.  I don't need a scorecard or someone making me feel guilty because I don't come here as much any more.

I do think that a meeting not affiliated with a surgeon's office is a good idea.  I've been to several meetings where I felt I was more an "example" to bring in more patients than attending for any support for myself.

Deb, I feel that too..when you go to a surgeons support group its more about the pore ops and who cars about the post ops unless its a free form of advertising..which sucks..and if you bering up complications you are hushed...
I didnt see the facebook links or tweeter till I read this post...
My comment was not directed tolds you..
U have always been there for others.
There are some who were 24 7 on here and then poof they never come back on...2 who were there for me are never on here....i even checked their profile page and they havent updated anything for that time either...

I don't know what was on Facebook that upset you.  I must have missed it.  I hope you find a spot that makes you happy.  That's the most important thing.

I just don't have time any more to mess with all the social sites.  I pick one and stick with it.  Currently that is Facebook because more of my family and friends use it.  One thing about this surgery is that it has caused me to be much more active so I have less time for goofing off on the web.

I actually do more social networking since WLS-I'm more involved in my horses and dogs and it's a great way to get training advice, keep up with people from other states.

I'm trying to get more dog sport venues to open up in Oklahoma though-I think more people would play if they didn't have to travel to Texas to compete.  I know the travel right now is prohibiting me from going full force with flyball-I have a great dog-but I can't afford to be gone 3 weekends a month cause I have other dogs too.

I believe she's referring to the links on each page that give us the option to share the page with our Facebook friends, or Twitter etc... A lot of us come here to find support among people who have similar experiences. With the ability to share pages with facebook, it takes away some of the privacy/anonymity.

What if I want to come here after surgery and complain about not having a BM for a week? Will I feel as free to discuss that here knowing that any Tom, Dick, or Harry might see what I write because someone "shared" it to their social networking site?

(Sorry, not trying to hijack this thread with my rant.)

Yes-it's the link to facebook from this site-I like facebook-but my father and brother and dog friends don't really need to read about my body image issues or sex after WLS or the things we used to talk about here.

Also, the times I've seen someone share a link (it's not ever been from this forum) it's usually done in a mean way and it opens someones comments up for non WLS people to discuss.

Isn't there a privacy option for each of us where we can block what we write from being on Facebook. I don't want to have to censor myself when I jot off a reply. On the other hand, I may not want someone from work reading a rant about anything. I live in a very small town and have a high visibility job.

Wow.  Didn't have a clue about the facebook link that could be used to share our posts.  I don't like that at all.  I was actually thinking of posting and asking for a 2008 surgery role call so we could all post an update on how we are doing.

I'm not on here as much anymore because I am busy having the best life ever!!  I love my surgery choice and so happy with the new me!  I still have about 20 lbs to lose but even if I never lost another pound I would still be happy.
