Does Breakfast Make You Sick
I'm a month out from surgery and overall doing great!!!
Started adding in soft foods, scrambled eggs, lean lunch meat, etc.
The only problems I've had are with my first meal of the day.
First time I had a little scrambled eggs with some ground up lean ham...and lost it within 20 min.
Second time I had some smoked turkey lunch meat with a little cheese and lost it.
I know the first time I may have eaten too fast...but not the second time. A friend of
mine who is 18 months out from RNY tells me that her stomach will not tolerate solid food for her first meal of the day. She says her pouch has to "wake up" first.
Has anyone else had this experience?

I'm 3.5 months out from a sleeve. When I've been sick it has either been from eating something too dry or eating too fast. After I've thrown up, my stomach is pretty touchy for several days.
I've found that I cannot eat scrambled eggs that are too dry or dense. They definitely need to be fluffy. Processed lunch meats can be kind of salty, so you might try something that is more bland. During the week I eat cottage cheese for breakfast & just eat eggs on the week-end when I can eat a little later.
Are you drinking some when you first get up? That might help prime your stomach.
You might go to the RNY forum to ask your question.
Good luck!
Tried eggs again today, but only after I had been up for several hours and had a supplement shake for breakfast. I'm full, but not uncomfortable and not gonna loose them this time.
I love cottage cheese, but I've eaten so much of it in the last couple of weeks that it's getting a little old now. LOL
Have to remind myself that I'm still on a learning curve with this new stomach. Can't complain, compared to some I've had it really easy.
Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm about a year farther out than you and I really can't eat for the first 2 hours that I'm up. I can drink with no problem but if I eat right after I wake I seem to feel horrible after that. I have to admit that I don't eat a very varied diet for breakfast and lunch on weekdays, I have string cheese for breakfast and then for lunch I'll have a cup of cottage cheese and later have jerky or nuts. No I'm not bored with it and I can eat more than that. For breakfast tho I don't really know what I can take to work and have at my desk. I'm trying to avoid as many carbs as I can during the day sinceI typically eat what my family does at night I don't want to go overboard.
Thanks Kath,
That is basically what my friend said. Drinking my breakfast won't bother me...I used to fix a shake with protein powder, strawberries and bananas with ice and a little water...it was really good. Plus it's easy to drink in the car on my way to work.
Like you I want to avoid carbs as much as possible. They were my downfall pre-surgery and after being off of them for over 6 weeks...I feel so much better.
thanks for taking the time to post.

Try adding cottage cheese to your scrambled eggs in the skillet, I really liked it.
I will cutup a small red potatoe and cook it with some green onion and then add in the eggs to scramble. Just before taking off the heat, a handfull of some shredded cheese, whatever your fav is. Real yummy if you ask me!
During the week, my breakfast is usually 2-3 strips of crispy bacon or a couple string cheese. Fast and easy.
I also eat string cheese as my snacks between breakfast and lunch and then dinner. My diet is not very varied either. Staying on the soft side right now, due to pain from what I guess is adhesions on my bowel again. Will have to wait and see when I will get that taken care of again. At least it has been about 18 mos since the last episode.
