Do they give you a catheter?  If so does it hurt, and can you feel it?  Also, I may be up one pound and I know what people say, if you gain they will reschedule but do you think they will for just a pound?  Does anyone know anyone who did have to reschedule?  Any other info you think I might need like what you wish you had brought or did bring that helped would be greatly appreciated

I was told yesterday in Pre Op Testing that they do not use a foley catheter.  If for some reason they do where you are ask that they wait until you are in the OR and out to put it in.  That is what I have done in the past for other surgeries.

I'm pretty sure they don't use a catheter, if they did, I wasn't awake when it went in. As for the being up a pound.... yes, they will cancel you. While the weight loss is required for medical reason to help shrink your liver prior to surgery, if you get down to the weight they want and then you gain some back you're basically telling them that you ate something you weren't supposed to and that you aren't following the diet they have you on. Additionally, they do that to make sure patients don't go have a "last meal" before surgery. If your surgery isn't until the 10th that means you have plenty of time to get rid of that last pound... just don't eat ANYTHING you aren't allowed to this weekend and early next week. Good luck with surgery next week!

I had surgery at the end of May and there was no catheter. You are walking and peeing as soon as you can. For me it was within a couple hours from recovery and I was home in about 38-30 hours after admittance on surgery morning.

There will be no need for a catheter.  They will have you up and walking as soon as you can.  I was up within 2 hours after surgery.  I had a bad reaction to the pain medicine they had given me because I have not taken strong pain meds before, but once that was out of my system, I was pretty good.  What hurt the most was getting up and down from the bed or chair.

As for the gaining a pound, I think it really depends on who's paying on your surgery.  I was self pay and had about 4 more pounds to go, but got the surgery anyway.
