ball is rolling
I had my first appt at me surgeons office today with the bariatric coordinator. I have all my apt set now for testing, nut etc. I'm very excited. She said my insurance (BCBS Federal) is the easiest there is to get approved and the lowest cost to the patient they use! My total cost for the surgeon will be 100.00!! I still don't know about the actual hospital fee but its looking like a flat 150.00 per day and that's it! Looks like if all goes well I will be having surgery the first week of march.
I'm very excited to get the ball rolling. I'm also a little scared. I spoke with the surgeon (Dr. Gornichec) and he said the pouch he makes is about the size of my thumb and the most I will eventually be able to eat will be 1/2 to 1 cup!. That just seems like such a small amount of food. Its hard to imagine getting enough nutrition with only 1/2 to 1 cup at a time esp with a 30% malabsorption on top of that! Its a little scary. Anyone else have this fear?

If the hospital is in network you may not owe anything...crossing my fingers that is the case because hospital rooms are expensive! I'm a little over a year out and it's still very hard to wrap my head around how little I can eat, some days it's more than others, some days if it's a really dense protein 3 or 4 bites is all I can manage.
We'll save room for you on the loosers bench!
i am 25 months post op qnd couldnt beleive how little i could eat. just remember this the futher out you go the more you can eat so make the most of your honey moon period. and dont ever bring in bad carbs or pop....
