Can't stop losing...HELP!!!
I read a ton of post about people getting close to goal but not being able to quite get there....of course I have to be different. I can't seem to make it stop. I passed my personal goal about 20 pounds ago. I eat 3 meals a day, some days I can eat more than others but I am not starving myself. I asked my doc how to make it stop and he said I need to eat more. For one thing that is easier said than done. I just dont know what to do. I am in a normal weight range for my height (even though I prefer to have a little more meat on my bones) I am just afraid I am going to wither away to nothing. Am I the only one that has/had this problem? Any advice?
Oh girl, it sucks to be you. Lol . Do you have a nutritionists at your WLS center? Can you post what you might eat in a day? I only wish I had your problem, however I do know it is frustrating for those of you that expierence this. We have had patients that this has happened to and I do know that they tell them to eat more, but in what way I am not exactly sure. I can find out for you though when I go to work Thursday.
Thanks for replying. I felt crazy complaining when so many people are in the opposite boat from me. There is not a nutritionist at my surgeons office. A typical day for me is:
Breakfast: Oatmeal or cereal
Snack: Cheese or nuts (and twizzlers...I am a twizzler addict I can't help it)
Lunch: 1/2 sub (not all of the bread) or leftovers (today I am having Tillapia and corn)
Dinner: Varies (tonight i will be having leftover lasagna)
Thanks again for any advice u can offer!
Hi, Lorna.
These are the posts where [and I am a fairly sweet, patient person] the spirit of slap comes over me! lol Seriously, while I cannot relate to what you're experiencing, I can understand that it must be a bit scary.
I think if you add more carbs, you'll begin to gain or at least stop losing. Try to eat something every 2 hours, even if it's just a bit of something between those meals. Add fruit, even potatoes.
I wonder how you would do with those weight-gain shakes? I don't know. I'm no nutritionist, but those are what I would try, if I couldn't find a dietician to talk to.
Keep us posted.
Blessings,
Mary

I know how you feel. I am 5'11 and my doctor said I needed to weigh 150... But at 155 I look like a skeleton.. People look at me in horror when they haven't seen me in a while. Instead of "you look great" they say " your too skinny and don't look healthy" I eat all day,, I eat healthy food also. I try and eat carbs but it is just so hard to eat them when you have a small stomach. I am trying very hard. I am actually looking for food that has alot of calories so I can put more weight on. Coming from 380 pounds and now looking "underweight" geez i need some middle ground here. Anyway, does anyone have any suggestions on what to do. I have been trying to eat pizza, steak, things that have calorie content but it seems not to help. I have to admit I do look too thin but it really doesn't bother me since I came from being so big...I ate hamburger patty with gravy tonight and beans...I keep track of my calories every day and I average about 1,300 to 1,500 a day some times even more. Please let me know if anyone else is going through this also.
Dr. B told you he wanted you at 150lbs? I'm shocked because Dr. B doesn't like to tell anyone what weight they should be because he doesn't want anyone to be fixated on that number and when I told him I was thinking 165lbs (I'm also 5'11") he told me that would be okay but he did not want me to shoot for anything lower than that. But as for trying to slow down weight loss, I know it is sometimes its suggested to add healthy fats like avacado, healthy oils, and nuts into your diet and possible to add in an extra meal? But I would definitely check with Chris or Stephanie and see what they say, you can shoot them and e-mail and they'll respond with what they think you should do to slow the weight loss down.
