weightwise ??? PREOP
I am supposed to go back in this friday to see the dr +nutri+exercise+1st psych, My question is I have not managed to do anything I was supposed besides starting the multi vitamins (I never took vitamins before). I get that I should still see the ntritionist because maybe she can alter the plan because like any diet I just had are hard time following and its the holidays and while I haven't lost one of the 12.5 pounds I am supposed to, I haven't gained either. And I need to get the psych eval over with too but I never started the exercise routine and haven't lost the weight so should I cancel my dr and exercise appts??? Is Dr. Walton gonna be really mad ( I don't want to be yelled at) I do want this but I just haven't been committed yet when I do, I know I lose those pounds in no time previouse dieting I could take that off in 2 weeks but I've been stressed and had alot more things pop in my face lately with the holidays that has just made it very hard and I am working around 60hrs a week and haven't felt like exercising at all :(
Here's the deal - if you are not yet committed, figure out why. Otherwise, you are going to find the rest of what YOU need to do more difficult. The psych appointment will help get your priorities straight and the dietitians will help you BUT you have to be IN IT!!
It is essential for you to be involved in the program. HOWEVER, you are not alone in the program. BUT, you must be an integral part and you MUST do your part. This is a LIFETIME change and not just for now. So I implore you to sit down and make some decisions about where you are going and what you want to accomplish, make the appointments, get in to the psych eval. IF you are not 100% committed to this, well....
This is a chance to change your life.... YOU have to be the leader.... the others are just your supporting team. Good luck.... Ruth

Hi.
Dr. Walton won't be mad because, frankly, it's your choice how quickly you want to be eligible for surgery. You have a certain number of pounds to lose before you will get a surgery date. It's all up to you.
I would encourage you to talk to Dr. Keller about why you're fighting this even before having surgery. You may not be ready for surgery. I'm sure you wouldn't want to hear that, but if there are heart issues that need to be dealt with, it's much better to do that before surgery than afterward. And if they're not dealt with, you will self-sabotage after surgery.
It was my understanding that if you cancel an appointment when you're pre-op, you have to start the process all over again. Maybe it was if you're a "no show." I don't really remember, but I do remember Dr. Walton saying something like that, at the informational seminar.
Good luck with your journey. I know it can get complicated at times.
Blessings,
Mary

I wouldn't cancel any appointments. I personally had to loose 37 pounds but I have friends who had to loose 50 or 60 pounds and one dear lady who had to loose 100 pounds before surgery. She did it in about a year. We've all been where you are. It just depends on how bad you want thi. This is not a magic potion and is not easy. You will still have to follow the program after surgery and do as they say or you won't have something that you can use for a lifetime of success. Be sure and mention this all to Dr. Keller. I'm sure he's heard it all. You might need to put this off for a while. It sounds like you don't have a large amount of weight to loose like some of us have and maybe that's the problem. I know the holidays are hard but really there is an excuse for eating anytime you want one. You can do this!! good luck
