Hey, I posted this on the sleeve forum but was advised that posting here might get me more replyies, more personal experiences with the place so here goes.  I am to have the sleeve procedure at weight wise in edmond and about 12 pounds from my pre-op goal.  What all did you have to do pre-op diet wise and if it changed immediately pre-op like no eating or all liquids for days etc?  And how was your post-op...like what should I expect or anything that sticks out in your mind that would be good to know and I forgot to ask till later on the other board but how do they or do they at all check for leaks?

Thanks for all info

I had to loose 16lbs pre-op and all I did was try to follow what the nutritionist told me to do and focus on working out. It also really helped me to get a VO2 test done to help burn more fat during my workouts. I'm not sure what you mean by if it all changed immediately pre-op, but the closest I can get to answering that is to say that we only had to do a liquid diet for the 24 hours right before surgery. The do check for leaks during the surgery, that's part of why you're going to be really bloated and gasey for the first 2-3 days post-op.

that is exactly what I meant...I didn't know from different things I had heard about how long the liquid diet or fasting was before surgery as well as I knew they could check for leaking from drains so if they didn't do that I was wondering just exactly how they could tell.

Thanks for the info

How long did it take you to lose your 16 lbs?  I am having a really hard time complying with the holidays and all, I have felt really defeated but I haven't given up.

It took me about 3-4 months to loose the weight. I didn't really stay focused the first month or two and I actually had to focus on watching what I ate the last few months. Definitely don't give up! You will get there and trust me, the pre-op is the hardest part of the process!

You are in fantasic hands with Weight Wise!  Dr. Walton and Dr. Broussard are the best.  They have done hundreds of these and know exactly what they are doing.  The liquid stage was tough mentally for me but I got through.  This surgery changed my life, saved my life!  They check for leaks while they are in there instead of making you drink that nasty stuff.

My sister had her sleeve with them and ran into some complications.  They were great through all of it.  She recovered just fine and is skinny and happy with her results.

Congratulations!!!
