Can't wait for this to pass
Hi all, I am having a bit of a rough time right now.. I am going thru the 'Why the heck did I do this?' stage? This clear liquid stage is about to takes its toll!!! Why when I read posts on the sleeve forum is it that others only had to do clear liquids for a week?? 14 days is alot!!! I so bad just want to puree something and eat it...I WON"T of course cause I'm too chicken to go against the dr's rules!! I guess I just really needed to vent. I think I just might go to bed to get this day over with!! Thanks all!!
What you're feeling is normal. We've all been there, but please let me tell you that you do not want to risk eating too early and have complications. I was not 100% compliant and I wonder now if it led to part of my complications. Believe me if you think two weeks of liquids are rough, try 9 weeks of nothing by mouth. It sucks...
We're here for you; just hang in there and it will be so worth the wait.

I know it's hard. I well remember, but it will be worth it. Personally, I feel the 2 weeks of liquids, which gives sufficient nourishment (believe it or not) while giving the tummy time to heal is why Dr. Walton and Dr. Broussard have such good results (fewer incidences of post-op complications).
Hang in there. The 2 weeks will be over soon. Try to stay busy and look for things to be joyful about.
Blessings,
Mary

Hang in there!!! You can do this!
I never had any hunger pains during my 2 week liquid diet. I sipped, sipped, and sipped. Everything tasted pretty bad as my taste buds seemed to have changed, but I survived. I think the key to my success was to keep busy. I walked outside, the mall, and did some errands around town. And stay out of the kitchen! = ) It really kept my mind off of food. Window shopping was good for me too because I'd see cute outfits in small sizes and know that I'd eventually be able to fit into that stuff. That was some extra inspiration for me.
My post-op packet stated that I could drink an Atkin's low-carb (Dark Chocolate Royale, I think) protein shake if I had hunger pains or were feeling super sluggish. Towards the end I popped one of those open. It took me 3 days to finish 1 little pouch of that stuff. It made me feel really full.
Remember to sip, sip, sip! Best wishes to you!!!

Oh Sweetie! I promise it will be over before you know it! This time last year I was on liquids pre-op so I could get the weight off, then had surgery on the 22nd. The two weeks of liquids didn't bother me until Christmas Day when everyone else was eating good food and I was drinking liquid. I was miserable! But a year later, and 125 lbs. later, I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Stay busy, the time will pass before you know it!

Marsha
