The Sleve

I am debating on having the Sleve done but have alot of questions.  Are you always on the strict diet.  When I went to the seminar it seemed like you could never have pasta or pizza again.  Has anyone had this procedure done at the Weightwise Clinic in Edmond?  I am all about a strict diet espically in the begining because of the dangers.  I have been on a diet since June and have lost 70lbs so I dont think he could throw something at me I couldnt handle because I have a great support group at home.  Well I wont go on any more.  Thanks Everyone!

Hi, JC.
I had the Sleeve done by Dr. Walton, from WW in Edmond. He is great. I've heard good things about Dr. Broussard, too. The dietary rules are very strict, but that's why they have great results at WeightWise, as well as fewer complications. There's a reason for every rule, and you will be more successful if you follow them. Good luck on your journey. Feel free to check in at the Oklahoma forum, if you'd like to, also.
Edited to add: I just realized I answered your post ON the OK forum. I'm such a dork! lol
Blessings,

I had the sleeve done by Dr. Broussard on 9-9-09 and I was also concerned about the diet restrictions, but have found since the sleeve was done, it really is quite meaningless.   There is really no food that I have "missed" that much.   You will eat so little, that it really just doesn't matter what it is anymore.   The two most important things I've learned are don't gulp and don't take too big of bites.  I'm down 34 pounds since surgery for a total of 64, and the sleeve is well worth it.

I will definatly have to train my self to slow down.  I am excited about the procedure and doing some research before i decide what to do.Congrats on the 64 lbs.

Dr. B did my sleeve in June and honestly, I don't think there's anything that you can't eat if you choose too but I sure wouldn't recommend it.  Honestly there are people that go with the 'you can eat anything and still loose weight' but you won't loose anywhere near as much weight and if you let yourself get into those bad habits early on, you won't loose anything later on once your weightloss slows down. The people that lose the most are the people that eat what they're supposed to. That being said, the sleeve won't keep you from eating what you want occasionally. In addition, if you're not eating protein you're body is going to react negatively so definitely DEFINITELY eat protein first! I just wouldn't recommend going into WLS planning on cheating from the start, you have to remember, the sleeve is a tool not an easy fix all that's going to loose the weight for you; you have to make the choices yourself.

I had no intentions on cheating infact i am looking foward to the challenge.  I think i was asking if it is like that forever.  I invision  at some point i am going to get caught some where down the line and i want to plan ahead. How is everything going for you? I hear the sugery is not that bad and almost an out patient thing?  Good Luck!

I get what you mean, that didn't exactly come across to me during through your first post. Its definitely smart to plan ahead. I would say that my biggest word of advice on that regard is to definitely expect that you won't always follow the diet/exercise plan perfectly and you'll just need to accept it and move on. I have definitely already eaten things I shouldn't but once it happens I just get back on the wagon and try and be better about what I eat and how I exercise. Everything is actually going really well for me except I've started to get tempted by things I definitely should not be eating! As for the surgery, it was not bad at all! I'm not saying others didn't, but I had absolutely no pain and was exercising and going to school 5 days after surgery even though I had a tiny bit of a dehydration problem the day after surgery. I will say that Dr. B is an amazing doctor and a great surgeon and you'll definitely be in good hands with him and Dr. Walton performing your surgery!

Yeah it has been that way with the diet i am on now.  every so ofter we splurge but get back in the game the next meal so its not like i have ruined my diet.  I think thats is awsome that everything is going well.  I wont get much down time from work so i am looking foward to hopefully working my sugery schedule around a weekend. How was that liqiud diet in the begining? Tough to get used to?

THe liquid diet didn't bother me at all. Honestly, I wasn't hungry at all and I wouldn't have wanted food if I had been able to eat anything! I know there are a lot of people that have the surgery on Wednesday and go back to work on monday. I will say that your energy level might be a little low during the liquid phase.
