Well hello!

I am so happy to have found this site/group. I'm on another world wide forum and the one for my surgeons office, but the world wide one has i think 5 okies, so yay!

Anyways, I'm Keaton, 26 female and I live in OKC. I have my Surgeon visit, Nutritionist, and Psych eval on October 8th. I'm kinda nervous, but also all i can say is BRING IT ON! I am so ready for this!!!!

I already saw one person I met... yes you Miss Patti ;)

I hope to learn a lot from all of you and wish you all well. Oh, two questions...

What do you wish you had brought to the hospital that you forgot (or you wouldnt have left home with)?

What did you have stocked and ready for when you got home?

Hi Keaton~ Welcome to the Oklahoma OH Board!  Hope to see a lot more of your posts on here :)  I am 5 + years post-op RNY now and still just <3 my surgery!  I'm glad to see you so excited and ready for what's ahead!

I don't think there was anything I forgot when I went to the hospital, but I always suggest bringing your own pillow from home and also Wet Lips.

I remember not really having anything "stocked" when I got home because I was warned ahead of time on how your tastes will change from pre-op to post-op quite drastically.  I would just suggest, if anything, get several different samples of protein shakes to try on yourself til you find one that works for ya, then buy a tub of it!  Hope that helps!

Looking forward to knowing you better!

Hi there! was thinking ABOUT you last night.
I only took my cell phone, charger laptop, bedroom slippers, lip balm, comfy clothes for the ride home and ME.
I made sure I had cases of water in the fridge sf pop cicles and anything that was heavy already bought and in place. The one thing I did for me was I hired merry maids to come in the friday before surgery and clean my house even had carpets adn my bed steamed cleaned....so afterwards I wouldnt be ocp about my house...best decision I made....
hope to see on the 10th at jasons deli and of course on the 17th....
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

Welcome Keaton!
I hope you have a wonderful WLS journey!

As far as the hospital....Make sure you take a pillow for the ride home.  I kept it across my lap.  (but I had a 2 hour ride home too)

I was stocked up on broths and jellos.

I am still stocked and ready and I had my surgery in Feb. I over bought but will use the left overs in soups and stuff, so it's not a loss. I did run out of the Walmart brand of Crystal light. I still run out of that all the time. I went through alot of the popcicles. I had tons of Jello and ate it a couple days was it. I think I still have tons of it.
I bought veggies and cooked them in my broth to get extra vitamins and strained them till clear. It gave me added flavor too. Your time will go quickly though while in the moment of clear liquids, you will think you are going to go crazy! You will live! I promise.
I wore an outfit to the hospital and it is the one I wore home. Make sure you have pants that are not tight around the waist as your incisions may hit right at that point. I didn't take make up or anything else like that. I took a toothbrush and a hair brush and I don't remember even brushing my hair. I did take pj's and wore those when I went to my room but you need to remember that there will be an IV so account for that. I didn't plan on seeing anyone and since I was only there for 24 hours, of which most of that time is sleeping, I didn't worry about reading or anything else. It went so quick! You will be walking alot so you need a good pair of house shoes and like some will say, take a pillow. Your cell phone and charger is important. From the day I went home, I never took any pain medications other than liquid tylenol on my 3rd or 4th day. That was it. I was just uncomfortable, not in pain. It was amazing! I did take GasX a couple times, but others really went through that. I would have a box of that handy just in case. At least it won't go to waste.
Don't over think it....that's what I did! Just be logical.
Good luck and we will look forward to welcoming you to the bench soon!

Welcome.

As far as comfie clothes-bring a cami or a tank top and wear it instead of a bra for the ride home.  Particularly after a lap stomach procedure, you don't want anything tight -it's just annoying as heck.

Well they have covered most of it but another thing I did make sure I had plenty of at home was the vitamins OWLO gives you the list of to take afterwards. Really all I used was my slippers, lip balm (lots of  lipbalm) and a robe to hide the hiney as we walked the halls. And Norman is great they even had gowns to fit me at 407 and actually closed with room to spare LOL
