Its the beginning of a new season so here is my sesonal question...Please post even if you dont normally do so....

I am a 22 month post op (WOW 22 months)....and I have ahad a wild journey..from complications to some amazing wows...to being there for others.

For me the most powerful tool I have had in all these months has been support...so my question is this....looking back from the beginning of your journey WHO HAS BEEN the support person for you that you can count on the most.....
ANd  have you passed on your knowledge to others that are behind you...

Mine has been Shirl tec from Vegas...we met on OH and have become the best of friends its like wehave known each other for years not just a for 2...

My way of "paying it forward" has been to help any pre op or person interested in WLS...I moderate an online support group, lead a support group meeting and help anyone that asks...
Now what about you
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

Pattye~

I also "pay it forward" by remaining active on OH and in support groups, offering help and advice to anyone who asks for it, and just being supportive to all those involved in this wonderful journey.  I feel as though I have 5 + years of experience in the new life to fall back on and if I can use to help someone else, that is even better!

As for who has been the support person I can count on the most, I don't think I can nail down just 1 person.  There have been so many along my journey who have helped motivate and uplift me, even throughout my complications.

Here's to rest of our lives and this wonderful gift we have been given!  *hugs*

I would have to say I have been supported & uplifted by all my OH friends.  Deb, Kim, Patty, Sherri, Mary, Susan, the list is too long to mention everyone.  I also lead a support group & talk to anyone who asks about WLS.  I want to do everything possible to help others feel as great as I do.  The freedom from obesity is too great a prize not to share with others.  Thanks for starting this post, it is nice to let everyone know how precious their friendship is & how much they mean to me.  Thanks everyone, you are the best!!!

That's a great post Pati!  I really have to say I have a group of wonderful friends that I've made through my journey.  They are the kind of friends who are going to be in my life long term as well.  We talk often and not just about WLS either.  It's amazing how when we all have this common bond and know where each of us have been and are going we all "get it".  If you haven't walked a mile in our shoes then you cannot possibly "get it"!!

I'm going through some huge personal issues now and they don't even relate to my WLS at all but I know I can count on my friends for their prayers, love and support.  I don't think I've ever had so many personal issues come up at the same time as I have this past month or so.  I've been devistated to say the very least.  I will share some of them with you all and ask that if you are a praying person that you add these to your prayer list.  I know that God listens and does answer prayers and that He is also still in the miracle business!!

My sister has been diagnosed with cancer and it is now in her liver.  She began chemo yesterday.

My husband was just diagnosed with prostate cancer and will see a surgeon today regarding his possible DaVinci Robotic surgery.

We just put our Mom in a nursing home about 2 weeks ago.  She is doing wonderful and I know it was a harder decision for me to make than it should have been.  At least she is getting the care she needs.

My daughter is having blood sugar issues after the birth of her baby, a beautiful, healthy baby girl!!!  She will get it leveled out I'm sure in time but now while the hormones are raging it's up and down!

I know that "all things work together for good to those who love the Lord and are called according to His purpose"!!!  I'm claiming this now!  Thank you all for your support and prayers!!!

Deb,

My prayers and heart is with you.
As a cancer survivor I know what your hubby and sister are going through. The biggest advice I can give all of you is to be positive and to not allow any negative thoughts to roam....My niece tolod me this fear, anger, is the devil's tools. By allowing those and other negatives in the devil is given permission to play havoc. If I started to go down that path I would look to the sky for a sparrow and watch it till the negative left me.
I am now 2 months out from my last treatment and I know I am free of cancer....
Prayers and postive thoughts plus praying for guidance led me to where I am at now.
Always have hope and believe in miracles.
As for the daughter the diabetees will pass.
I am here for you always
