Which doc ?? your personal experiences..

Ok... I 've read through some reviews but wanted realtime input from those who have been through it already.

I have just started my journey towards possibly getting WLS. I have been to 2 seminars in OKC.
OWLO & OK Bariatrics... Keith/Nelson & Gornichec. I would love to hear your personal experiences GOOD & BAD for these 3 doctors.

While you are looking don't forget about Weight Wise in Edmond. They have free seminars every Tuesday night and Saturday morning. Best of Luck on your decision.

Thanks... they were going to be my choice  BUT... my insurance doesnt cover it :(

 I've got to be honest, I went to seminars for OWLO and OK Bariatrics and I ending up having surgery done by Dr. Broussard at Weight Wise. I would definitely look into Weight Wise if I were you.

I had surgery with Dr Keith and I have had a wonderful journey. For me the choice was a personal one I had surgery with Dr. Keith back before he started specializing in bariatrics as did several family members. He can tend to be kind of blunt but for me that is a plus. I like having it laid on the line and my butt chewed if I need it. He is a great doctor and has always been as concerned and willing to answer questions as I could hope for. OWLO is one of ONLY two bariatric centers of excellence in Oklahoma. Which was another concideration when I had it as my insurance required at center of excellence. Luckily the doctor I had already chosen was one.  His staff has been very kind and caring everytime I have been in and they have shared tears and smiles with me in my journey.  And Norman regional where the surgery will actually take place was so AWESOME with me. They even have a special floor dedicated to bariatric patients. All in all my experience with OWLO has been nothing but positive.  Also I am in Bridgecreek area if you ever just want to talk to someone who understands.

My lapband surgery was done by Dr Lana Nelson.  I picked her because she had done my niece surgery and was approved by my insurance.  Not sure you will find a doctor with a memory like her's and she has such a good bedside manner to her.  She has done surgery on several other family members and we all thing highly of her.  Everyone in the office has always been very nice and gone out of their way to be helpful.

Thanks to everyone who has replied so far. Hearing your reasonings for your selections & how you are/were handled is very helpful. This is exactly what I am looking for.

I love Dr Gornichec, I had Lapband 21 months ago and I have had no problems and have been very supported by him and his staff.

I had surgery 2.5 months ago with Dr. Warnock in Wichita Falls, TX. I love him! He is always available (gives his patients his home and cell numbers) and his staff has been great before AND after my surgery.

Two of my friends have had WLS with Dr. Keith, one had a lap band and the other had RNY. They both speak highly of him.
