OT Prayer Request

My daughter-in-law is 9 weeks pregnant and just got out of the hospital after being admitted Saturday night for a blood clot in her leg. It is a HUGE clot extending from her groin to her knee. She was complaining of back pain and difficulty breathing for almost 2 weeks before they found the clot and was told it was a strained muscle but now we are wondering if she had a small PE. They have done a bunch of tests on her and so far the only one that has come back is a postive test for Lupus. They said it is possible it is a false positive and are running more. I may be a nurse, but this is out of my league so I made the mistake of looking up Lupus and pregnancy and now I am scared to death!
She still is in quite a bit of pain and can't put any weight on her leg. She will be doing Lovenox injections for the remainder of her pregnancy and for some time afterwards and then switched to Coumadin.

Nancy, I have been praying for your daughter-in-law and will continue to do so.  I know she is in good hands and she's especially lucky to have such a wonderful mother-in-law!

Pull whatever strings you have to pull to get a good rheumatlogist on board ASAP!  Early treatment is essential, as I am sure you are aware.  I love my rheumatologist if you want her name.

Of course, you guys are in my thoughts and prayers!

I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

So sorry to hear about all of that! I had a small blood clot last year and went to the ER five times because I couldn't breathe before they even thought to check for it. So frustrating! My aunt with Lupus had two healthy pregnancies. Anything to give you some piece of mind, though I agree getting in with a good Rheumotologist is a great idea!

Hi, Nancy.
I've added your daughter-in-law to my list. I predict she'll be the exception, rather than the rule. :)
Blessings,
Mary
