Kidney Stone surgery tomorrow
I will be having surger tomorrow to remove the kidney stone that refuses to pass on its own. I have been talking to people and researching on the internet and I am a little freaked out. Apparently they put a stent in your urethra and it hurts like 10 kinds of hell everytime you pee until it is removed. UGH! Please say a prayer that I am strong through this cuz I dont tolerate pain well and I am freakin out!
Been there, done that. It feels like a bottle brush is being passed along the urethra every time you pee. I won't sugar coat it. It's no fun but it is bearable. I had a 1 cm stone in the kidney a couple of years ago. It would not pass no matter what. They placed the stent in to immobilize the stone so that the kidney could still drain properly. Then I got to use the brand new lithotripsy machine at Deaconness where they blew it into dust. The biggest relief was getting the stent out.
It's not fun but you'll be okay!

Lorna,
I've never had a kidney stone (thank goodness), but I am saying a prayer for you today. Also, I have a friend who has had like 6 stents and 10 stones removed in the last 2 months. She doing great. We even went shopping last night. Hope that gives you a little hope. Take care and take your meds,
Vicky

My prayers go with you, Lorna. Be proactive with your pain meds. In other words, take them right away, when offered, before you think you might need them. It's much easier to stay on top of the pain than to wait until the pain arrives. I'm believing for much less pain than what you're prepared for. :)
Blessings,
Mary

Good luck tomorrow. I've never had a kidney stone but I have had a stent in my right ureter when it closed down due to radiation damage. I honestly don't remember feeling it and I had mine in for a few months. Of course, I also wasn't trying to pass a big ole stone through it so I hope it goes smoothly for you.
I'll say a prayer that everything will go well.
