You can take it every once in a while but not consistently. I wouldn't take it at all if you know of any ulcer problems that you may have. Would be best to ask your Dr. and take his advice.

My post-op paperwork says to take Tylenol instead. Apparently ibuprofen can be really hard on our pouches post-op so we aren't supposed to take it.

We are not suppose to take it anymore..it can cause ulcers and damage to the liver....
but as evident each surgeon has a different view...for me I spent to much money on being healthy to take a chance..call and ask your surgeon.
I use to take 2000 mg a day and quit cold turkey
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

I chose the VSG because I could contineu taking NASIDs.  But, ask your doctor before beginning any new medications.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

I take it, never on an empty stomach and I try to keep it down to as little as I can get by with...meaning my first line of defense is to try not to irritate my foot to begin with.

I used to be really awful about just poking ibuprofen down to keep on doing whatever it was that I should stop doing....now I try to be more cautious.  Tylenol will break a fever but it doesn't touch the foot swelling for me.

Check with your doctor-every situation is different.

My doctor says no NSAIDS which for me meant not only no more ibuprophen but also bye bye to my nuerton for nerves in my back. OH I miss them but not enough to risk my pouch!

Dr. G says absolutely no ibuprofen, but I took 400 mg yesterday, and I'll be taking some today.  It's the only thing that works on sunburn pain for me.  WHEN will I wise up and remember to use SUNBLOCK???

hey,
So I know this first hand the answer is NO, If you had bypass nope dont even try it I did it a couple of times before I knew not too and I so paid for it. But if you had VSG your okay but not too much.

MommaHen,

Is neurontin a NSAID? My doctor took me off of Motrin and Cymbalta for my chronic foot pain and switched it to neurontin after surgery. Just wondering if I need to revisit this with him.
