Can't help with the diet part but if you can take a little sugar-you can get a Dr. Pepper Icy or Walgreens has Dr. Pepper flavored ice pops.  It might be helpful to try one just to help you realize you really don't miss it.  I did, and was actually kind of put off by the taste.

If you really DO miss it-and want Diet DP (I think that stuff is addictive) make your own ice pop with diet dp.  You can buy the molds at target and safeway.  As long as you get the carbonation out, you're good.

Yikes-RNY-go the diet ice pop route-I don't think you'd be very happy if you had one of the others-the nauseating thing is they are way too sweet.

Years ago I was a Diet Coke freak. It's all I ever drank. I have tried carbonated drinks after surgery (3 mo out) and to tell you the truth, they taste pretty crappy! I didn't drink enough I don't think, to have a problem, or else it just didn't affect me. They just simply don't have the taste I crave anymore.  I think it helped me that I was off caffeine for a long time prior (carbonated too) to surgery so maybe that's why they just didn't appeal to me anymore. I must have drank about a 1/2 of a med size Sonic drink recently and it was only cuz it came with a meal that my mom was getting and she didn't want it either. So I tried it just cuz it was there. I wouldn't buy one purposely.

You ARE working it just right--but try it and get it out of your mind once and for all. It won't kill you to try it and if you have a little issue with it at least you'll not be tempted again. A sip or two certainly can't do any harm.

why doesn't someone make flavored drops that we can add to an ice water drink to mimic some of our faves??? Hmmmm, anybody want to take that one and run with it???

I finally tried a sip and let it go flat in my mouth before I swallowed and it tasted nasty. Cured me.

DO NOT DO IT! I had RNY in 2002 and decided after a year to try a small dr pepper....i was addicted  before and a little one was all it took. I could take the sugar and all. The carbonation blew my pouch out huge and just 6 weeks ago I had to have a revision at the cost of 25K which insurance did not pay for. Don't make the mistake I did, it is not worth it. Soda is not good for anyone and you can live without it.
I am a soda addict so I know I can NEVER have one again, it will just start me down the wrong path.
Good luck and go drink some water.

sno cones!!! they have sf at the stand near me! (i cheat sometimes w/ sugar, so its up to you if you dump! but they do have cola flavor and any other syrup imagineable even pickle! )

but they totally help w/ any after dinner dessert cravings!

ive never been in love w/ soda so i dont crave it often and have not had soda since surgery. but i just always am thinking of the consquences. and for some reason always think my pouch will explode or something with just one sip (i havent had any carbonation in the past 4 months. i thought id miss it more but i dont really.)

good luck!!

I have taken sips and let go flat before swallowing and truthfully is not that tasy to me any more. I will admit there is days I would KILL for a pepsi, but it doens get better and NOTHING tastes as good as HEALTHY feels. I was much further out before I dared try it to. Hang in there you can beat this craving. It is kind of like smoking or drinking it can get ahold of youa nd you will get hit by cravings from time to  time. I have been quit smoking for almost 2 years now and I will admit though most of teh time they turn my stomach there is days that I want one so bad I could scream, but i know one and it would be over for me so i refuse to give into the cravings. if I can do it hunny so can you. We are all strong or we would have never chosen this path we walk becaus ewe all know it is NOT the easy way out no matter what anyone says.

I have taken a sip or two of soda and I wasn't that impressed.  I haven't tried my favorite....Sonic Vanilla Diet Coke...just because I was so addicted, that I'm afraid I will become addicted again.  I do miss them occasionally, but grab some tea and make do with that.  I just can't allow myself to get addicted to it again.
