Amy the pre-op nurse
I biked 23 miles (well it ended up being 24) in the Spin Your Wheels ride. It was awesome! I really pushed it and was toward the front of the pack during the first 12 miles. I passed this one girl as we were going downhill and made a comment about the nice downhill coast and she said, "Amy is that you?" I said yes, who are you? She said "Amy the pre-op nurse"!!! I was so excited. I LOVE LOVE LOVE that girl! She is so inspirational to all the weight wise patients. I remember being so nervous about my surgery and this beautiful, tall, skinny nurse was telling me it would be okay. I was thinking, what did she know about WLS. She told me she had one of the first VSG surgeries. I couldn't believe it because she didn't look like anyone that would have ever had a weight problem. I told her to tell Dr. B. she saw me exercising because we all know how he is about that! ha ha!!
I love my sleeve!!!!!!! Now, if I can just get to onderland! Singing to the tune of Take Me To Funky Town.....won't you take me to onder land?! 201 this morning....

She is a great inspiration. I remember being so scared of the IV and she got it in the first try and believe me that is a miracle in and of itself. The she told me that she was indeed Dr. B's first Sleeve patient and how they saved her stomach and showed it to her later. She had me laughing by the time I was ready to go to surgery that I forgot all about being nervous. She is truly and inspiration.
Now on to you... You have been my inspriation also. I followed closely behind your surgery and I have always followed your progress and been inspired. You are doing so much with your walking and biking and I am not even close to doing anything that physical yet and I admire your tenacity. You just hang in there girl. Onederland will be here and gone before you know it and will be a dream gone by as you continue to lose and be the successful person that you are.

Same here! No one can ever stick me just once...they always end up bruising me all over and end up in the back of the hand but not Amy she did it the first time with no problem.
Thanks for the encouragement Kim. I ate a little crazy yesterday. I guess the ride made me really want to eat all day. But today is a new day and I am drinking my water and going to be back on track. No snacking.

I too have had the opportunity to meet Amy. She opened the seminar I first attended at Weightwise. She walked in and I though... Yeah, this is great... have some skinny chick talk to us fat people about wls... Then she told us her story. I was so inspired and got quite teary eyed. I can't wait to have the chance to work with her and get to know her!
Great job on the bike ride by the way! I can't wait to ride a bike... Right now, I am afraid I will look like a hippo on wheels! :) It won't be long though! It won't be long!

She was there through every moment of my surgery and complication. I could not have made it without having her there. She's amazing with patients and incredible getting needles into places that just don't want to cooperate. She even let me sleep one night when I was so tired and waited until the last moment to take vitals and blood. I don't think there are limits to Amy's compassion and dedication.
How can we nominate her for an award? All the nurses at WeightWise and phenomenal but Amy is a cut above even that!
I am working hard on bicycling so that I can join you guys some day! I love my bike!
