If you take in the occasional glass of vino...
We were told at WeightWise at least a year and then to be very careful. It will affect you so much differently because it will go straight to the blood stream. Make sure you have someone with your or try it at home when you do. You might ask your surgeon or his office but that's what we were suggested.
I don't normally drink alcohol, but before surgery I'd love a good margarita. I haven't had one in close to a year, but a couple of weekends ago I was visiting a friend out of town, wasn't driving, and they made some kind of mixed drink, had lots of fruit and some vodka. I drank some, it did affect me quickly, I'd never touch the stuff if I were driving, because just a sip was enough to impair me. The buzz went away as quickly as it came on though. Would I drink alcohol regularly? No, it was just one of those things I wanted to try.

We were told that after a month nothing would physically happen if you had a glass of wine, the reason that they recommend a year is because of transfer addiction. At about the same time as you I did have a small glass of wine, no adverse reactions with the pouch but I definitly felt it faster. Obviously the best answer is to check with your surgeon.
