countdown/about me

Well, this time tomorrow I will be in the OR. I can't wait to start my new life. I've enjoyed reading about your triumphs. I believe this forum and the local support group are nearly as important as the new tummy itself. So, thanks for sharing and making me feel a part.

Allow me to introduce myself. I spent 25 years as a newspaper woman (reporter, editor, page designer, etc.). Two years ago my family, including DH and DS, 15, moved to Edmond from eastern Oklahoma. It was meant to be for several reasons.

In January my son underwent brain surgery at OU for an AVM (a tangle of abnormal blood vessels). OU has the only two pediatric neurosurgeons in the state.  Thank God we were within minutes of OU's emergency room. He's doing great now.

I also believe it's Divine intervention that I live in a town with a bariatric hospital. I went to WW last year and tried the medical program. I lost 20 pounds and promptly gained it back.

My plan was to move to Edmond and work on my health before I went back to work. So, this surgery is a last chance of sorts. I know it will work. My mind is in the right place.

Thanks for your support. Please add me to your prayer list in the a.m. I'll see you on the other side.

Vicky

Hi, Vicky.
Thank you so much for sharing more of your story. Divine intervention? I'll say! I know you're going to love the results of your surgery, and I, of course, cannot say enough good things about Dr. Walton. :)
I will admit that I'm now a little nervous about you reading my daily devotional, but, hey, maybe you can give me some tips. :)
My prayers go with you. May you fall asleep (on the table) with a smile on your face and wake up the same way.
Blessings,
Mary

Vicky prayers are going up for you!  You will do great.  You have the most awesome surgical team and facility in the State of OK.  The nursing staff is top notch and you will be treated like a queen.  You can feel good also knowing that most of the staff have been through what you are going through and so their advise is first hand.  Been there done that approach.  I count Dr. Walton as the one person who basically gave me my life back and he will always be special to me for that very reason alone.  He is also a great guy with a good heart and loves what he does.  You wil begin a journey tomorrow that will go by fast so my friend hand on to your hat because it's awesome!  You will be doing things you haven't done in a long time and will wake up to new WOW moments every day.  The things that most people take forgranted will be your's to experience as well.  You will be able to really participate in life and not just sit by and let it go by!!  Let us know if you have questions but my main advice is to work the program exactly like you are told.  They all KNOW what they are doing at weight Wise and it will work for you too my friend!!!

We're moving down and making a special place for you on the "looser's bench"!!!  We'll wee you on the other side tomorrow Vicky!!!

Thank you, ladies, for the words of encouragement. I have every confidence in Dr. Walton and gang.

I do have a quick question. Is decaf tea considered a "clear liquid?" I was told no decaf coffee today.

Yes it is.  I drank a lot of it post op during the 2 week period of clear liquids.  I could hardly stand the crystal lite stuff for about a month.  Your taste will change a bit.  I enjoyed luke warm water, tea and coffee more after surgery.  My taste if back to enjoying the crystal lite again.  Pop sicles are good too post op.  Don't stock up on much because what you like today most likely you won't tomorrow.

i never even ate a popsicle after surgery-no appeal to me....fast forward to this year-when the popsicle gene clicked in-I can't get enough of them.  It's weird how things change.

I'm a little late in replying.  You are probably in surgery now!  I just wanted to wish you all the best.  I hope you have a smooth and quick recovery.
Your story sounds just like I always say....Everything happens for a reason.  "He" knows where we need to be and what we need.  Even when we don't.
Hugs
