My other advice is to remember that whatever questions/concerns you may have, other people on this board have probably experienced, so post away!
Again, congratulations of your new life!
Hi Vicky:
Although we didn't actually introduce ourselves to one another last night, we did "meet" in the group last night. It is great to hear of your surgery date and just know this is the greatest thing in the world to hear! Your life will be sooooo wonderful after this!
I am only 8 weeks out but I keep attempting to be the self-appointed poster girl for WLS, I am just so charged up! It keeps me sane and directed and eager and everything else. I've only lost about 22 lbs since the surgery BUT gone down two sizes and the body is changing like crazy. Already had a plateau which really distressed me being so quickly after surgery (3 weeks out for a good 2 weeks) but am back down on the losing end. Yayyyy! Like others said last night, it may not show actual pounds lost at times, but when you know your clothes are different and you can notice other things going on with flexability and movement, you know you're losing!
One thing I wanted to bring up last night when we were talking about building muscle -- and I just knew there would be an argument or lots of opinions -- it is commonly said and thought that muscle weighs more than fat. Well, a POUND of anything is still a POUND. Muscle just has a different density and use on your body than fat does.
So learn to embrace the changes, know when you're cheating and fix it (or be happy where you are), and deal with the fact that it's going to take at least a year to get where you want to be, or at least in the neighborhood. After all, it didn't get there overnight, did it?
Best of luck on your day, I know it will be flawless! I also believe keeping a super positive attitude is necessary for this journey!
Good to have you here Vicky!
