OT: My son

Today is my oldest son's 23 Birthday.  I can't be with him today because he is across the world in Afghanistan.  This is his second tour in the Marines.  (hopefully his last)  This time is nothing like his last deployment.  He is actually had to see and do a lot more this time.  (Not to say he didn't do anything before, but its been harder on him this time)  I hope I said that right!
Anyway, I'm just asking you all to say a little prayer for him today!  I want him to feel like everyone is thinking about him.  (Feel the power of prayer)
The only problem is, today for us is his tomorrow!  So I'm a little late!  They are 8 or 9 hours ahead of us.
Thank you all!  Happy Wednesday...it will be the weekend before we know it!
Hugs
Kim J!

The good thing about prayer is that it has no date or time limit on it. Kim, I am so deeply grateful for men like him, who are sacraficing. I am also so deeply thankful for mother's like you who support them and encourage them no matter what the cir****tances. The families of these men sacrafice too and the worries can be overwhelming. You, letting us know about him makes us realize how much they all need their prayers.  Kim, do you know if any of the men, he is with need letters or support from here? Let me know....Ok?
Thanks for sharing this and I do hope his birthday was a good one, even under the cir****tances.
Sherry

By the way....You have changed so much since I saw you! It is amazing. You were beautiful before but man YOU ARE HOT!!

Well Sherry, now I am bawling like a baby!  Anytime someone talks about it or just him in general I cry and cry.  I worry so much about him over there.  I know he said the heat is like 130 deg.  He is sooooo hot!  They all are.

He would love letters of support.  He says he doesn't get mail.  I send him something every couple of weeks but he says its not enough.  I can only say so much.  Even with my endless babbling I can't write enough!  LOL!

Here is his address for anyone who wants to write!

Do they have any of those cool collars that you put in cold water and then put around their necks? These are so easily made and do help with the heat. Shoot my mailman wears one!
I will for sure write him....I can talk to a wall, so I will be so glad to write to him....Nothing like mail from total strangers!

Is the postage any different? I assume it is but have no idea.

That is a good idea of something I can send him.  Thanks!!!
No, the postage is the same as if you were mailing something in the US. When you are mailing it to the military.
Thanks so much, you are so nice!

I orded a bunch on line for about 2 or 3 bucks a piece but I am betting they would be really cheap to make....My machine is getting worked on so I can't get to that right now, but I am going to start making them to send to people who work outside, like heavy equipment workers, military, and so on....It's something I can make to help people and not charge them. I love doing that!  Even people who have to mow should wear one! Anyway you might check online!
I saw them for 6 bucks at Ace...No way!!

They call it absorbant Polimer. I looked it up when I was looking up Cool Collars online. One source had the instructions and the stuff you need listed. I imagine I can get it at a Fabric Store.
You can order it online too, but I think I would check at a fabric store. They are real popular right now so I would think they have the stuff.
It is like diaper stuff. Many people put it in plant soil to allow the plants to retain their moisture. It only takes a couple Tablespoons of it for each collar. Now you have me wanting to run up to Han****s to see if they have it! I can't wait to get my sewing machine running again.

If you go to a nursery you can buy it.  They use it in plants to help hold in moisture.  We had bought some at Whorleys nursery just south of 76th street in Owasso.  It doesn't take much at all, like a T per neck wrap.

On the postage issue...

If you get the flat rate boxes they are 9.95 and the box can be as heavy as you make it and the price is the same. I send hubby a 12 pack of drpepper in one of those boxes! SO you can fill em up!  Just remember to get the customs form and fill them out before you go to mail it, will save some time!
