I don't know Dr. Keith, but I use his associate Lana Nelson-and she's great.  The office is clean, professional, and reasonably efficient.  They are very responsive if you call with a problem.

I am biased but I LOVE Dr. Keith! But seriously  a huge concideration in me choicing Dr. Keith for my surgery was the fact that I had surgery from him a time before when I was 18 and scared too death of having my gallbladder removed and he was always great then. He has over the years before he decided to specialize in bariatric surgery, operated on 4 of my family members and even in the middle of the night meet us back at the ER when my 70 year old grand father had a reaction from the antsesia when he had not wanted to send him home in the first place but the insurance said was a outpatient surgery. The staff at OWLO and for me teh ones they send you to for any further testing was very curtesous as well.  The entire staff has been very friendly and caring. They have cheered with me at the scales and pretended they didnt notice the tears that flowed down my face at certain numbers.  When I went in for my 6 month surgery I told Dr. Keith he had saved my life and in my heart I mean it. I gave him a big hug and a kiss on the cheek and thanked him. I would put my life in his hands for anysurgery I ever needed done.

I had a gastric tube that stayed in for 6 weeks and when I called hysterical at 7 am about a week out because the drainage had changed drastically to me that even though he was sure it was the normal thickening of it that he still had me come in first thing and looked. I felt like a fool when it turned out to be normal but they treated me as if it was something serious and made sure I was seen too quickly. I could say so much more but go to his seminar if you havent already and meet his staff that is there they even often have nurses from the bariatric wing of the hospital there as well. Walk up to the floor and see how they treat the patients and make sure you feel good with the choice for yourself.

I have heard very bad and very good things....It is that way with any of the doctors that you check into. It is how you feel when you see them. I have heard very good and very bad things about my own doctor, but he is who I felt the most confidence in and I went with my gut. I was verrrry pleased. I was not pleased with other aspects of the whole thing....mainly the Advocate I had in the beginning, and also the billing dept. They have a ton of issues there, but the doctors were great as well as the nursing staff! I loved that it was a Bariactric hospital. The nurses who cared for you, care for other bariactric patients all day long, so they were very familular with everything concerning it. They didn't have a bladder surgery in the next room or some other type case going on and 10 patients to care for...They were Angels!!
So all in all...look at the whole picture. Then go with your gut and stick with it....I also think it is like many other things....some people are prone to problems with surgeries and some sail through. Some other people have physical issues that can become a problem during the surgery too.....Some things are not all the doctor's fault.
I personally loved every thing concerning these surgeries, at the Weight Wise center, but it does pay to ask around and to check into it all. I loved that Weight Wise has the FREE seminars for you to go and decide which type of surgery you might want and which doctor too....They also allow anyone to come to the support groups. You don't have to have had your surgery there. To me, that said a lot about the type of doctors they are there.  Maybe I am partial, but that is ok with me!
Good luck in your search.

I have had two surgeries done with Dr. Keith and love him. He has been ranked in the top of the bariatric doctors in the country and that to me says a LOT about him. If you have your surgery at Norman Regional, then the floor you recoup on is a floor dedicated to bariatric surgery. Winter, his PA, is also great. I had a recent surgery with him (about a month ago). He called me later on that day upset because or some things I had been doing. When I went for my follow-up, Winter explained the reason why he was so upset. They are continously doing research to see what is best for their bariatric patients. Please go to the FREE seminar they offer, the OWLO website and the support group meetings they hold. This will give you a better idea of whether or not you will be comfortable with him.

My best friend also had a RNY gastric bypass with him (that's how I found out about him). She had serious complications, that were no fault of Dr. Keith, and loved the care she received from him and his staff.

I think they also do surgery at the surgery hospital on 59th and Shields.  That's where I was for my hernia surgery, and I had my doubts-but it was a great experience and I felt more like I was at a resort than a hospital.  Very attentive care, and I would go back there in a minute if I needed to.

I am a moderator for his online support site..so I have good and bad things to say about his office...
First Dr. Keith is a no nonsense surgeon. He  beleives in what he does and does a great job. If youa re loking for a surgeon that will basically do whatever you want..then go to another one. If  you dont qualify  he wont do your surgey no matter how much you beg or cry. If you are ahard head..ie like me he will ask you to lose weight to prove you can stick to his program.
This man has operated on me 12 times in 14 months. He saved my life and we have become friends as well as doctor patient. I wil say one thing if you dont follow his requirements you will hear from him. As for bedside manner its excellant. As for  his program I will say this i was 486 pounds and now I am stuck at 182. He only takes the patients who are in the best of health and who he says will follow his program.
We have support group meetins at Moore twice a month satellite meetings around the state and once a month a face to face meeting at norman regional hospital which is open forum and we discuss anything.  and the onlinse support group...which is a yahoo group that is open to anyone. All of his meetings are open to anyone who wants to come ...seminars you have to make an appointment for.
I have had a disagrrement with him but it lasted for a few minutes and then it was over. He is blunt and outspoken Like I am and thats why we get aloong...His staff are good and they will answer all your questions no matter how stupid u think they are..they are there for u no matter what and if u have a problem let me know and I will call and help ya with it.
Just remember this when looking for a surgeon check out their creditanls....see how long they have been doing the surgery you want and  what their success rate is. I can tell you that I know he has only lost one patient and she was an older woman  who died form heart failure...If you have any questions I will Answer them honestly.
And yes I love this surgeon..you know you are in good hands with this man...
I have nothing bad against Dr, Nelson either she is fantastic also...
Good luck in any decision you make..
Hugs
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it
