So as of monday June 29th I am a new person. I am on fluids still for one more week and am still sore but am off of pain meds which is a good thing. I am feeling great getting a lot of comments but still am having trouble to get in all 64oz of fluid it is hard. The day before surgery I had 14 bottles of watter and know i can barely drink 3. I have a question for you I am back and am feeling good. but cold things like snow cones and pop cicles are amazeing. is that normal. Also has anyone ever craved a coke after surgery. Ill keep you up dated
Glad to hear you are doing so well! I am 3 weeks out tomorrow, and I'm still working hard on getting the fluids in. I just have to sip little sips all day long. I'm just now getting to where I get the 64 ozs in everyday. I love popsicles too!!! Sometimes though it makes my stomach contract and I can't have them, but most times they feel good.
Yes, I am craving a nice big Diet Dr Pepper from Sonic. But from what I hear...not worth it!

Fluids are hard at first. The tiny new tummy doesn't want to be bothered. Just keep at it and you'll be able to get more and more in every day. It took me about 2.5 months to get past 64oz. I can now get in over 100 if I work at it.
Some people can tolerate the cold stuff. If you like it, keep eating them! Nothing wrong with them and they count toward fluid intake.
I still crave Cokes and I gave them up last November. I may never completely get rid of that craving. Just don't give in!
Congrats and way to go!!

Congrats! You will love your new life!
For some folks cold liquids work best ( popsicles and snow cones) and for some (like me) warm liquids went down best. Do what works for you- just get those liquids in each day. You really don't want to get dehydrated!
I tried a sip of a diet coke a few days ago (first taste in 15 months!) and it was vile! I can't believe I used to be addicted those things! Yuck! I don't recommend trying this experiment as it is against the rules. But, I was also more than 13 months post-op.

I lived on snow cones last summer and could not wait for the stands to open back up this summer. I never was one to drink much and snow cones make it so much easier to get my liquids in!
Maybe I am the odd duck, but I have not craved cokes or carbs at all since surgery. I can't even imagine drinking a coke again and carbs don't tempt me like they used to.

i constantly crave soda! i'm only a month out....i've found a few ways to "fix" that craving.
i add crystal light to water whenever i can, i eat sugar free snow cones, i found a diet coke slurpee at 7-11 (i have only had like 3 sips of this--plus there is no carbonation), and sugar free fruit punch has been a life saver as well. hope that helps...
on a random note, did you go to OBU? i think i recognize you...i graduated from there. if you did, then im pretty sure i graduated with your brother....

Sugar Free Popcicles are still a must have in my house I have even gotten my kids off on them, and yeah I loved me a diet snow cone the other day. As for coke yes I would sell my left foot for a icy cold Pepsi sometimes but for me it is not worth it. The water its sip and walk sip and walk. I still keep a diet green tea, fuze or water with me at ALL times. I never developed a like for crystal lights much so did a lot of plain old water. I actually would use the 20 oz bottles to help me measure my water. I know I had to drink 3 minimum everyday then with the popcicles I was good. Keep up your good work you will have the ride of your life,
It is hard to get the fluid in...what I did is this take the medicine cups and sip from them thats about an ounce and I would time myself..every 20 to 30 minutes or so. This will pass just keep doing it.
As for the cravings....if you would cut yourself off weeks before surgery the craving wouldntbe happening....i suggest this there are sugar free popsicles in soda pop flavors try one of them. BUT remember soda is BAD BAD BAD for your tool.
For some reason we either LOVE COLD things or hate them.... for me I couldnt do cold for about 2 months..but then I am an oddity.
Good luck and know we all have been there
