so here i sit. tomorrow marks 1 month since my surgery. and in the last 2 weeks i've gained & lost and gained again the same 1 stinking pound. i can't get in the 64 ozs or water, nor can i get in the 50 g of protein. i'm frustrated with that.

then today, my blood sugar drops. i get it back up by eating applesauce. so for lunch i had spaghetti o's. but now i'm worried that this surgery is not cut out for me. i ate the entire can over a 3 hour period! i never felt full once...not even once. (keep in mind i've felt full with other foods) so now i'm confused. i'm just frustrated. questioning this surgery, if i've already expanded my stomach, why i'm not loosing weight, etc.

has anyone else been here? really, my main concern is to why i was able to eat an entire can of those spaghetti o's over 3 hours and never feel full. ugh. any insight would be amazing.

First off, RELAX!!!  Your body has just endured a trauma and it will have to adjust.

Second, GET OFF THE SCALES!  Weigh no more than once a week.  You need to let your body adjust to the new way of processing food.

Third, it is possible to eat too little food.  Your body has had its stomach rerouted and caloric intake cut drastically.  One of the side-effects of this is a tendency to stop all weight loss.  Your body is holding on to every last ounce of fat because it feels like its starving.

Fourth, I don't know your doc but every single one I know of in town would tell you Spaghetti O's are a big no-no.  They are squishy carbs that are nearly sliders (foods that you eat that bypass your surgery).  That may be why you never felt full.  You need to reduce or eliminate as much carb intake as possible UNLESS YOUR NUTRITIONIST OR SURGEON SAYS DIFFERENTLY.  Your body will start losing naturally if you increase your protein intake as much as possible.  At Weightwise we are encourage to eat protein first and if there's room then add veggies and maybe fruit.  Think of a funnel.  If you put small rocks in a funnel they will pour right out.  If you fill it with large rocks then put the small rocks on top then it will take longer to go through.  Your food works in a similar fashion.  Protein is the big rocks.  Then masticate 30 times per bite and wait at least a minute for the next bite.

Be patient.  Work on the process and the results will come.

Good luck!

Ditto what he said!!  I will add though, that I did do one liquid protein drink a day in order to  keep my protein up.  I just wasn't getting enough in.
I know it is hard but like Winnie said....Relax!
You will be fine! Go listen to Miley Cyrus's song  The Climb. It relax's me cause.... I will get there....and there is no real hurry.

I know the feeling, Yesterday was 2 months since my surgery. While I lost 68 lbs in order to get down to what the DR. wanted before surgery, and since surgery I have lost another 60-64 lbs. for the last month I have been holding between 4 lbs. and even though I try not to weigh every day.  I do weigh on Monday evenings at my TOPS meetings.  And for the last 2 weeks I expected a gain when I would step on the scales. and the loss would be 1 to 1 1/2 lbs respectively. So I guess I am doing better than I thought.  I know I need to work to get my protien in. but I work on watching what I am having.  I know pasta is still a couple of months out for me and that is Okay with me.  I know I need the protien and always work to get my protien in at any meal I eat. I figure that I have lost so much in the last year (I started on losing last July 7) that my body just needs to catch up with my weight loss. I keep hoping and praying that the weight will start to drop again.
Keep working at it. and watch what you eat, the weight will come off.

I went through a time where I questioned if I was going to be the one.  You know, the one that surgery didn't work on.  It will work just relax, quit jumping on the scale and pay attentiont to eating protien first and drinking tha****er. It does get easier.

At 10 days post-op I stalled for 28+ days (not sure how long since I went on vacation at the end of that time.)  I was totally convinced I was the one the surgery wouldnt' work for.  Well, I was wrong.  I now have a fairly normal sized body now (size 10 pants.)

Stay away from crap food like spagehetti- o's.  They are horrible for your body!  Simple carbpohydrates soaked in preservatives and sodium.  There is no redeeming food value in them.  You never felt full because the are so over processed and squishy that they went right on through your pouch without pausing to give you a feeling of full.

You WILL lose weight if you follow your surgeon's eating plan- but it will happen on your body's own schedule and not on yours. Hang in there!

I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)
