Mary funny you should ask!!!  My next goal is to do the 1/2 marathon at the Memorial Marathon Run to Remember.  Next year will be the 15 year anniversary of the bombing and this year instead of volunteering I want to be running in honor of the 18 friends I lost.  I start training in November!

That's awesome, Amy! What better way to honor your friends. May I ask why you're waiting until November to train? Is it so that you can have more weight off prior to beginning the training? Just curious. You don't have to answer. :)
I love how you're moving forward, in so many areas. It's precious to see. :)
Blessings,
Mary

Congrats Amy!  Yes, you have come a long way baby!!!  I remember meeting you and your hubby at a meet and greet prior to your WLS....look at you now!!!  You have always had your sweet spirit and wonderful personality but your appearance has certainly transformed.  We all get so hung up on "where we want to be" that we forget how far we have come.  I want to get a bike and start doing that too.  May I ask what kind of bike you have?  I think I need a comfortable seat for sure!!  LOL  You are an inspiration to us all and my friend you do have "bragging rights"!!!  AWESOME!!!

Deb

By the way, Amy, my birthday is Thursday July 2 and I am going to be on a cruise and on that day I am swimming with the stingray and snorkeling....life is good without that other person around my neck!!!  The things we are now getting to experience and participate in are awesome!  We have sat back far too long letting life go by...now we've amongst the living for sure!!!

This is the ride of my life.....what an amazing tool I now have!!!

You will have a blast on the cruise!!  My bike is a Trek Pure Sport and you would love it because it is a retro upright (old fashioned handle bars) with a big ol butt seat.  Its a lime green bike and I get chuckels from people that see me on it sometimes because it looks like something out of the 50s. I got it at Pro Bike on NW Macarthur and 63rd.  I love that shop they really take care of you after the sale.

Wow-I need to dust off my bike-you are doing great!

I think biking is one of the best exercises out there for anyone who has weight issues, joint issues, or most any other issue.  It gets that heat rate up without pounding.

18 miles?  That is completely amazing!  I am so proud and happy for you.  I also have a passing interest in running.  I would love to learn to love it but am afraid I'm just not made that way.  But I'm gonna try some day.

Congrats on your fabulous success!  And I love what Mary said.  "I rejoice with you!"  I do too!!

My sister who lives here is training a bunch of us to do the 1/2 marathon starting in November.  She ran the entire marathon a few years ago but just had surgery and was told she can't run again so she is going to powerwalk it.  So at this point not positive if I will be running the whole thing or just jogging and powerwalking but I am going to fini****  You could join our group if you want to.  A few of them are powerwalking for sure.
