Feeling full?

Today I am 2weeks post op (Sleeve)!  Yeah, I made it!  At one point I had doubts.  Anyway I was able to eat "real food" for the first time and had scrambled egg.  I think it was the best egg I had ever eaten.  I ate in little bites and of course took forever to eat.  I did not fini****I think I just did not want it all-but I never thought I felt really "full".  Is this normal.  Before surgery I obviously had trouble teling when I was full.  Do I  need lessons on what full feels like.  I do not want to over eat. How will I know when I feel full??  Any suggestions??

I didn't have the sleeve but "full" feels much different than it did pre-op.  The only time I feel "full" is if I've over eaten.  I fully believe that this is the reason that they tell us to measure out our food.  I'm almost 6 months out and I don't feel hungry like I used to and I rarely eat enough to feel 'full'.  Some people get a runny nose or hiccup when they are full, not me though.

You should feel satisfied but not miserable. However, everyone has a hard time learning what that is at first. At least I know I did, until I finally figured out the "signs". I hiccup or get a runny nose when I am full. One bite over that and the miserable feeling comes.

Hi.
Congratulations on getting your Sleeve! I'm sure you'll love it as much as I love mine. :)  You'll learn how to recognize when you're satiated, full, and over full. Of course, you want to stay with satiated. Easier said than done, I know, because we're so used to eating until we're full or stuffed.
I have a soft full feeling and a hard full feeling. My soft full is a hiccup, and my hard full is feeling like I have a brick in my chest, which is not pleasant.
Enjoy your "real food." Just eat a bit, and leave the rest. You're doing great. :)
Blessings,
Mary

I don't have a sleeve, I'm banded, but full for me feels like "ok, I'm done"...if I continue eating till I'm physically "full" it's uncomfortable.

One of the hardest things to learn is that your body may be full before your plate is empty, and it's better to stop rather than try to clean the plate (even if you've premeasured your food).

I am 4 weeks out from a sleeve tomorrow, and I know what you mean completely by not quite sure if you were satisfied or not sure if you were getting full. Just this weekend I experienced my first "uh oh" and ran to the bathroom knowing it was too much. Fortunately bringing that back up isn't NEARLY as bad as getting sick from being sick...it's not digested of course so it's just like "giving it back" as I put it. But it surprised me. I now know what to expect. It's a feeling of tightness horizontal (at least for me) across my chest, feeling like the food is right in the esophagus. I hiccup too. I also find that I'm eating just when it occurs to me -- there is no stomach hunger whatsoever.

I still have to learn to chew more and slow down, but so far so excellent!

You definitely have to relearn you own body and know that your tummy is in control!  You will figure out what full feel like in time.  For now, stop as soon as you think you're full because at this point, you're probably not really hungry anyway.  But mushies are the best aren't they?  Those 2 weeks of liquids are hell - no other way to put it!

I also get a little hiccup when I'm full, at least most of the time.  I feel blessed to have that little sign.

Good luck to you and take advantage of this time in  your surgery.  You can lose it fast right now so work it hard!

Throw out everything you ever knew about your body.  It has all changed!  Learning to tell when you have had enough is a learning process.  I was not fortunate enough to get the hiccup or runny nose sign.  I just have to pay attention.  I will tell you though at more than a year out I still tend to put too much food on my plate.  Thankfully, I have learned to listen to my body and rarely over eat.  I have never thrown up!  Yippee!  Go slow, listen to you body carefully.  You will learn what feels right.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

It took me forever to learn when I was full, because I was never hungry but I still had to eat anyhow... Congrats on your sleeve. Im loving mine
