I don't know anything about restoration but if you have a quilt shop in your area you might want to check with them.  I know they CAN be fixed, not all the time, but sometimes.  If it can't be fixed you may be able to get it reworked into a lap quilt or a wall hanging.

Thanks for responding. It is only the one area or flower looking circle that is raveling. My Grandma and her sister made it together for me about 10 years ago before they both got to old to quilt. Now they are both gone and I really don't want anything to happen to it....
Thanks for the idea on going to a quilt shop....Do you know of any in OKC?  I have thought about learning how to quilt but this may really clinch it for me....I may just learn how to fix it myself and be hooked.

Thanks again,
Sher

There is a place called Quiltworks on May Avenue (I think it's May) that should be able to help you.

sherry i quilt and do all the old fashioned hand stitching...
if you could kinda explain to me what the design etc looks like i could talk you through fixing it ....chances are she washed it like she would any other blanket not knowing that old quilts do dry rot and when they do the threads break down and disgrate..
btw you take it to a quilt shop you gonna pay big bucks for the repair
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

Patti, I will take a picture of it and P.m you with it....That might help...It almost looks like maybe something ate part of it....I know she probably did wa**** like it was nothing.....Kids have no idea what a skill it was and is and what it takes to make one. Anyway, I'll take a pic and show you in the morning....
Any advice would be welcomed. Thanks!

please do that! I might have scraps of fabric u could use...
I had to resew a complete wedding quilt that was over a 150 years old cause the "new bride" washed it after her first night... it took me over 2 months to sew it ....the orginal seamstress used a love knot everytime she made a stitch
being healthy has its rewards....take the challenge and just do it

I was going to suggest Quiltworks too! I love that store!!  My mom and I are big into hand quilting, and she just recently purchased a longarm quilting machine! I bet that if they can't fix it for you they know someone who can help!
