My vanity is really getting to me.  I've had a full head of hair all my life and now it's falling out.  As I said in the Support Group, my hairline is making a beeline for my behind!  I've been taking Biotin supplements and use Tresemme Biotin shampoo and conditioner.  Everyone is telling me Nioxin is the bomb-diggity.  So which should I choose?  Where do you gals get yours?

My butt fell off, please help me at least keep my hair!

Anytime you have rapid weight loss your hair is gonna fall out no matter what you do. I personally didn't find the nioxin helpful, but you can get it at Ulta.

I doubled up the biotin...and I do use Niocin shampoo and conditioner PLUS I get a deep head and neck masage once  aweek. It stimulates the hair roots and promotes growth. How else would I..lol still have hair after all the surgeries Ive had.
This will pass I promise

Personally, I really didn't think those supplements/products would work for me. I just decided to make sure I ate lots of protein. While my hair thinned a bit at the forehead, if you could see me, you'd see I still have plenty. Now, maybe the two aren't connected, but I think they are. Just know that you won't go bald, and your hair will grow back.
Blessings,
Mary

I bought my Nioxin at Ulta.  It was a jumbo size shampoo and conditioner and I bought it about 3 months after surgery and I'm still working on it.  I'm not completely certain that it helped but I felt like I was doing something.  And I don't think it helps with the hair loss but it helps the hair grow back more quickly and in better condition.  I do know that my hair grows really fast.  I bought the stage 3 Nioxin or whatever they call it.  They all have numbers so it's kinda confusing.

Hang in there my skinny friend.  It will stop falling out some day!  Mine stopped falling out at about 8 months.  As soon as your body quits freaking out, your hair will stop desserting you!

I have not used Nioxin, but right after surgery I started taking Biotin and my hair still fell off (not in chunks or anything like that) - I don't think you can use anything to stop that process - however, I do believe that the biotin has helped my hair re-grow stronger, and I am still taking it...I have better hair now than ever before....Your hair will re-grow, trust me.

I used Nioxin and Biotin.  I have no idea if it helped or not.  I just knew I didn't want to be in the wig shop crying- why didn't I do something.  So, I did the only two things I thought had a remote chance of helping.  Bottom line- is it gonna happen and it will grow back.  Hang in there, my skinmny friend.  Your hair will come back when your body finishes freaking out about the famine in your land!

I am not sure what is worse- the disappearing butt or the one that is slipping down the back of your legs (mine!)  Still a good trade off if you ask me.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

Winnie,
I have always been drawn to men who are balding or even bald. I don't think that women are that judgmental when it comes to hair on men....Now they will notice a bald woman. Don't worry about it and continue to take the Biotin. Nixion in the big bottles is supposed to be on sale at Beauty Brands either this month or in July at Beauty Brands(there is one at N.W. Highway and Council.) Since I wash what is quickly becoming very little hair, I dilute my shampoo down to 1/3 water and 2/3 shampoo and the girl who does my hair said I could go to 1/2's on it. It is less harsh on your hair that way and still is plenty enough to get your hair clean. Years ago(and I would know) we washed our hair about once a week and needed good amount of shampoo but now, as often as we wa****  it is a waste of good money. Like Rita said, nothing is really going to stop it from falling out..The nuts told us that too.....I am not sure who sheds more right now...me or my dog and though at times I freak out when I look at the brush....I am ok with this process...It is a process of renewal. I saw a man on the Christian station who said to take Folic Acid to prevent baldness. He said 3 a day would do it...... I tried that and actually got hair on my chest and a mustache so men could use this....me...NO!
Good luck and relax....Soon, you will be a hottie with a whole new head of hair!!

Sally Beauty Supply also has a version of a hair loss prevention shampoo called Nutri-Ox.  I like it, and do notice that I have less shedding when I use it.  Granted, I haven't started losing hair yet, but I have shedding problems to begin with.  I blame the kids!  LOL

I"m doing Biotin and Nioxin both, and honestly I don't think it's touched the hairloss. It's not so bad when it's dry and fixed, but let me get in the pool and OH man the thin spots really start to show! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one and that it will come back! It's too hot for a wig so I just got my hair cut short and will wait for it to come back! I just hope it dosn't take up to 8 months cause at this rate I won't have anything left!
