Complications

If you are having complications or issues, please please, do as I say and not as I do. I put off fixing a hernia I knew about, and as result I had at least 6 very bad, low energy months. By the time I made it to the hospital, I was passing out if I stood up too fast, and my potassium was so low they had to give me some before they could begin surgery.
My only defense is that it really crept up slowly-and I had good days in between the bad days. But if you are seeing a trend, please get it addressed. Our surgeries are on our digestive system-trouble with that means trouble absorbing nutrients. Most of my issues were directly related to malnutrition, which is utterly ridiculous in this day and time.
Our health was the reason we did this to begin with, and protecting that health should be priority one.

My hernia was a hiatal hernia (in my diaprhragm where the stomach meets the throat) and I had it before WLS. Sometimes they never get worse, sometimes they do-I lost that gamble.
For the abdominal kind-I think there are a couple of reasons. One, carrying all that weight around probably weakens the abdominal muscles. I also wonder about the lapro process itself-poking holes in the tummy has to do something. I've never been able to use ALL my original holes (from the gall bladder surgery), but they usually use as many as they can.
This time I only got one brand new hole....LOL-and it is right over my belly button so it really doesn't show at all. She was able to reopen old scars for the rest, and the weirdest thing (to me) is that they healed better this time-smaller and less raise, so my tummy actually looks better than it did-how weird is that?
