okay people i am totally lost i started surgery at 295 size 24 i am now 215 at a 14. here's the question why am i in a 14, hear me out there's a friend of mine that is 5'4 160 I'm 5'5 215 we wear the same size. i understand about losing inches but could that be right. seriously a whole 65lbs more than her. I'm like muffin the scale is not moving but I'm almost into a 12 now. I'm just confused about sizes and weight. my goal was to get to a size 8, I'm scared I'm going to be 200lbs and in a size 8. that just doesn't seem normal to me, then again I'm not normal.

Could it be the brand or the cut?  I had the opposite problem I was loosing the pounds but my size wasn't going down accordingly.

I am like you kathpf. I am down to 176 and still in 16/18 and wearing XL and occasionally L. I guess by looking in the mirror you should see how thin you are and maybe not focus on the scale. What a blessing that when the scale doesnt move, you are still having drops in clothing size. Your doing great. Have you measured yourself?

Have you been working out?  I just had a check up appointment with my surgeon yesterday and had this very conversation.  I have only lost 10 pounds in the last 3 months but have gone down 2 sizes.  That doesn't even make sense to me.  Exercise and my NUT quickly explained to me that if you are working out and doing strength training then you are actually building lean muscle which weighs more than fat so while you actually getting smaller the scale doesn't necessarily reflect it.  It makes total sense but it still messes with your head when the scale seemingly slams on the breaks!!

I don't know if that is your situation but there is one possible explanation.

You've been workign out like a fiend!  Muscle weighs much more than fat and takes up less room.  That is my only explanation.  Enjoy and dont' worry about the scale.
I have maintained for one year at this point.  I am steady at -120 pounds.  =)

You can really never go by the number on the scale to judge the size you wear...  You can take 5 people who weigh the same and, chances are, they wear 5 different sizes.  Everyone is built differently~  As previously posted, enjoy being the size you are and keep up the amazing work!

We've always known your abnormal, Steph, that's why we love you so!  Seriously, like I was tellin' ya, get ahold of some calipers.  You'll be surprised at your true BMI.

I am 5'5 260+ and have NEVER worn any pants bigger than a size 16 or 2x top,so it can be weird like that. I am a whole 50lbs more than you.

Ok here is my response....My sister always says she weighs the same as I do and wears the same size.......She lies! That is just a fact....She has a problem with that in every area so I know better....I can make up more crap about my sizes and weight....and she still wears the same as me....Maybe she is just telling you that....

The next observation is this....I have Large, Ex Large, and 2 X shirts that I still  wear....It all depends on the brand and how much they shrink up. There are some shirts I have from Walmart that I love and they have shrunk to fit like I like...They are 22-24. I think they have shrunk down to about an 18.I was at the point of them being to small though.....now they fit great.   In pants, I can wear mediums easy, some are still large and and I can even wear a few smalls, depending on the pants and if they are elastic or button......I have no idea why the variety...it is what it is....This surgery is a mystery to me, the clothes thing is a mystery, and the stall in weight loss is too....I guess they call it Personal Weight Loss because that is just what it is....It is personally yours and no one person is the same....I think you are doing great....try to relax about the size similarilies and just focus on your weight. I would not have a goal of a certain dress size, but rather a healthy weight and then decide on the sizes.......I will always wear a different size up top because I am built different. I have small legs and butt, but a preg. look gut and wide shoulders, so God really gave me design flaws....I just work around it the best I can. I am only focusing on the weight....I know that I will wear many sizes, because of the different brands. My weight and BMI are the real factors and ture indications of how I am doing...

Hang in there Steph, you are dong wonderful!!
